If Butch is getting fired before the end of the season , this is how I feel. I get it would be extra time to do their own thing, but I would rather Butch coach against Bama than an interim. Bama is going to destroy us either way and I'm a firm believer in confidence. That's no way to start your interim coaches short career.

My biggest fear is our first ever 8 loss season and allowing Saban to completely remove the soul of our interim before he even gets started, just doesn't seem like a great idea to me.

An interim will be performing a soulless job. Technical coaching with no anticipation of legacy. Would bet the performance improves.

I 100% believe Butch no longer wants to be the coach here.

But he is demanding his full buyout per the contract rules.

Which is about $8.4M if they fired him tomorrow.

But he is going to force their hand.

So I anticipate that when Butch is let go it is with a new coach already in pocket with an MOU in place.

Just my opinion but they're not going to be able to wait til they find the next coach. Chances are the hire will be currently employed and won't want to make a switch before the regular season is over.

Hard to debate, chances are it depends on the person.
I just don't see one week making that much of a difference. The interim won't try to install a new system, just better play calling.

Don't see me raising too much of a fuss either way. And I agree with you on the attendance, looked fairly full to me at the start.

Meanwhile, Gruden was sitting in the damn stands today watching the game with a wheels up pilot. Totally freaking weird imo. Why wasn’t he on the sidelines with the team like usual? Why was he wearing all black? If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it’s most likely Gruden to UT!

A coach who is no longer invested can do a lot of damage in a short time. I agree that UT wants to play it this way, but they're not going to get an MOU from a sitting coach until the season is over. And there's a very finite number of non-sitting HCs to consider.

UT owes CBJ the same whether he's let go today or in November, and Sexton is going to enforce the contract. The uncertainty is very hard on the players and it's not good for the program.
