IT is past time to build a fire under the offense. With JG at qb , SC WILL HAVE to respect his running ability. IF

WHY cant the coaches get our qbs ready to play? That Ga QB is a TRUE freshman, but he plays a lot better than that. Player development has been a sore spot- all these highly ranked guys go over there and most transfer or underachieve . Lets us let Butch finish out this year for monetary and fairness reasons, he deserves that much. 8-4 he stays, less than that- well, it might be time to make a change IF a quality candidate appears. Even then, it doesnt work out > half the time. And it will cost 20 to 25 million- that is not chump change. Why cant we hit on the right coach? Derek Dooley -WTF_ a man who could not win at LA Tech is going to outdo the sharks coaching in the SEC. Hamilton must have been on crack to decide that.

Those stats are sobering, yes, but are of no surprise. bUTch came to UT from a weak conference where he had gotten his wins against teams with losing records.

His failure in the SEC was quite predictable.

I think this is one of the best, most accurate comments on Volnation re Butch.

You don't go from the corner drug store to run Wal-mart. It is essential that UT hire a coach, or solid HC/DC from a Power 5 program or the pros. No more high school coaches, please.

Butch...doesn't know football.

That's the problem. How the hell this man became coach is beyond me.

Fulmer- recruited great talent and for the most part it developed. BUT in game coaching was average with Phil. Cutcliffe and Chavis carried him

Butch- recruits good talent and only the special ones develop through their own force of will.
The rest regress because of empty and disattached methods of coaching. And we all know about his well below in game coaching ability. Coaching malpractice in an obvious state. Those kids deserve a lot better.

We are Vanderbilt

No we're not. No....
That's not the case AT ALL!.

Vanderbilt is historically bad because of lack of talent. Admissions and lack of previous athletic success leads to little talent coming in.

That's NOT team 121.
Despite the RIDICULOUS attrition of Butchs recruiting classes. Our roster is still littered with high school All-Americans. At every level of offense and defense

These kids valuble development time is being absolutely wasted.

Butch is that guy that buys the nice car, but then never gets regular maintenance for it....

I understand what you are saying. I'm just looking at the FBS rankings in all these categories and our "body of work" over the last few seasons. We haven't really had many meaningful wins. OK, you could say the two wins over GA, and the one over Florida last year, plus some good bowl outings (not Sugar though) could put us a tad over true Vanderbilt status.... but not by much. The grim reality is that we struggle to beat ANYBODY. App State, Ga Tech, Ohio, Umass. It's not Vandy football, but I'd say UT's product on the field is about the same as Vandy, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Mississippi State at this juncture. That's where we are.
