"They should shut up and be grateful for the money they're allowed to make, like good little black boys. "
...

Eh, this comment is more racist than just about anything I've ever heard. Comments like that are so counterproductive. People can't be outraged that these athletes are figuratively spitting on the life sacrifices their friends and family members have made? If they're outraged it's because they think black people are inferior and should be grateful for whatever money they're "allowed" to have?

Disappointed Jay, you're usually better than that.

The players need to take note of what Carmelo Anthony did. He held discussions in town halls in lower income communities with police officers and community leaders. Discussions where both sides of the fence can present issues and openly discuss problems is what leads to change. Carmelo did all of this without showing any disrespect like kneeling during the national anthem.

I’m not gonna post what one former player posted on instagram today, but it’s okay for athletes to have different opinions than you. This was a fan favorite in his time at UT. People in here would freak.

If you only want to support a team where players have the same political opinion as you, good luck finding a team.

Nobody said that. The point was don't protest by taking a dump on your country. The same country that has made it possible for you to have all your money.

Thank you for not answering my question. Don't disagree with another person's opinion or freedom of speech if you don't have a valid alternate option.

Lol it was a joke my guy.

I thought the " " and the ellipse at the end would ensure that the joke would come across

lol wife is uga. I got her to wear orange this year so I am getting closer. Her grand parents are boosters for uga so it'll be a tough road.

Haha oh believe me, I feel you on that. Nearly identical situation.

We gotta stand together. ✊🏼

Lol
Crazy, 🤷🏾*♂️

Don't act like this isn't what it boils down to...

Edit: we fought the same wars as you all. We are military families as well. This is our America too.
I love this place, I want it to be better for everyone. I can ask for change. And I can see the good and the bad.
It takes nothing to try and see things from someone else's perspective, especially people who haven't been afforded the same rights and opportunities through our history

Pretty sure I know who you're talking about. He posted similar stuff on twitter the past 2 days too

What about them kneeling and bringing awareness for the people who didn't have the possibility to make plenty of money because of their skin color? The protest isn't about them (athletes). Its about people who and sound like them that didn't have an equal or fair chance of prospering in this country.

And if you took that as a comparing the two struggles that's dumb on your part.
You totally glossed over CHANGE TAKING TIME. and you're smart enough to know that I wasn't comparing the two, just on the time aspect.

Also to families of blacks killed or abused by police who don't have a voice, it isn't absurd to ask for something to be done.

Seems You're more upset about protests than about lives being taken.
Must be nice to live in that world, someday I'll make it there. Maybe not me, but hopefully my kids or their kids.

I like most of what you say but here is the rub with the protest.
Do they make it better or worse?

Imo they make it worse because it makes more People less willing to work toward having an open mind toward the issues we face.

I damn sure would be willing to stand beside my African America friends in making sure injustice doesn't happen but I am much less likely to stand with them in this way.

Many owners and coaches took note and didn't allow their team on the field until after the anthem

I know Steelers' fans who take a trip to a game every year and have loved them for over 50 years who packed all of their Steeler stuff accumulated over the years, and are sending it to Mr. Rooney III tomorrow with a letter about how he will never watch the Steelers again. He is not from the South though he lives here now.

The problem with the kneeling and protests is what they are protesting is a lie served up by SJW's and race baiters including the media. It just isn't true that police are out there gunning down innocent black people. It just isn't. The statistics prove this unequivocally. So they are protesting nothing. My 2 cents and that's all I'm going to comment on it.

Yep. Not gonna run his name through the wringer (no idea if I spelled this right lol) here but just know that many, many current Vols probably disagree with your opinions in one way or another.

That’s the beauty of America, we don’t always have to agree on stuff. Have your own opinions but listen to people who have different opinions instead of just shouting them down. They might come from a different background and have had a different experience than you. You might even learn something. I know I have in the past.

This is where I’m at as well. When you alienate the other side by disrespecting something that’s important to them it makes it hard for the other side to see your point.

I think it's more about the injustice. How many of those cops that have killed someone end up in jail?
