Where there's smoke there's fire?

It really is malpractice.

We should also be rolling the pocket when do pass. QD has been his most accurate when rolling out.

However, we should be running the ball 40-50 times a game minimum.

Sounds like the same thing that was said about Worley.

Pretty much.
The "read" portion of the scheme is worthless with either of those 2 taking snaps. Its actually a negative for the RBs.

Dobbs made it go because he was another RB. And that had to be respected and accounted for. Now you are essentially running a delayed draw on every play and RBs are put at a disadvantage. We re lucky we have exceptional backs.

situational football aside, it really is. the O line is starting prove it can assert itself, and there's nothing that really needs to be said about the running back group. each of them have proven to be capable...JK more than.

and despite what many have said, when QD is able to get in a rhythm, he's looked good. it just hasn't happened a lot. you've got big tall WR's that can convert those 3rd downs for you. QD can certainly manage that type of game, and as shown with that pass to Wolfe, he can be accurate when he can drop, set and throw. you just can't be predictable.

there was a point in Saturday's game in the 3rd qtr where we ran it on 1st down a couple times and only got a yard or two, but i was fine with it....for every 1 yard run, we'd get another 6 yarder, or 15 yard RB screen. it was working. and as the game wore on, we started getting the chunk plays out of the running game.

this team needs an identity. and right now...i'd put #4 at the front of the line and say "this is who we are, until someone stops it, have fun".

PF says Mullen can be had right now for $5.5 million a year.

Don't believe that one bit. If State beats Georgia, they will be favored every game except Bama. If they are undefeated or even a 1 loss team going into Bama game, it will be huge. Mullen will likely go 10-2 at worst this season at State. No reason to leave with Fitzgerald being a junior.

Folks in Starkville will match any offer made to him under 10 Million.

My biggest fear was that we would meltdown before we could hire a new coach

yep. the latest we should have pulled the trigger was the inexcusable loss to Vandy - the second in Butch's 4 year tenure.

now we are going to make the new coach's job considerably harder.

Plus one thing people aren't mentioning, Mississippi State's enrollment standards aren't anywhere near Tennessee's. Some of the players he has at State wouldn't even qualify at UT. I question how well he could recruit here.

Its not hard to recruit at Tennessee. Its really one of the easiest places in the country to recruit.
I don;t want Mullen, but he could recruit here at levels better than Jones.

Recruiting here would be easier than Mississippi State. While he has lower academic standards, we have a great pool of talent that would qualify vs Miss State. They are literally picking up the scraps that Bama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss don't want.

The CEO of my place of employment is a very well connected booster of MSU. I had a casual conversation with him yesterday about this very subject. He said this isn’t the MSU of old in regards to raising money. He said CDM makes $5 million now and Boosters will pay what needs to be paid to keep him. He said Notre Dame or the NFL would be the only job IHO that money wouldn’t matter

You are right. Instead, he has a new QB chucking it 39 times, including all 7 plays inside the opponent's 10, where the DBs are even more compressed.

And let's not even start on the "situational football" debacles.

It is a comedy of errors.

no other option right now. JG is just not ready... development at the QB position has been really, really bad.....

One more example of coaches not doing what they're paid to do. Pitiful development of the LB group. Sub par development of the OL.. I'm not buying that we have 'average' talent. We have above average talent, just below average coaching/development...

Because he said they could hang with Bama you tard

Didnt see him say that, but okay. We have fans that say we can beat Bama....

Id say Vandy has a better chance that we do to hang with Alabama. They beat us the last time we played and they have improved, while we ....will...injuries, player development, depth....thank God we dont have coaching issues.

We need to be a I formation team with maybe a little spread mixed in, the spread takes too much edge off having any power running scheme. To much on your heels type of play calling. I want my OLineman firing off on running plays, the mindset of running out of the spread sucks, especially at the goal line in a big boy league. To slow developing crap. It is beyond me how a team if running a spread cannot incorportate a running out of the I at least in the damn red zone. What in HELL do they have against the I formation, why in Haiti would you want to start your handoff of the 5 when you can have a damn runner coming full bore and taking it at the 2. It's was STUPID then, it is STUPID Football NOW, and it will be STUPID football always. GBO!!!!!

What will be the breaking point in reality where Butch will be shown the door? I think Currie will look at all facets of program. Recruiting, current roster and how many transfers we may have ? What say ye

At the end if the day its about money . butts in seats and ticket sales or donations. That's what its about and ever will be about .

I had concerns about JG when he was supposed to start the all American game and wound up being number 3. He won some of the skills challenges but apparently the mental part is the problem.
