Even Doering on SEC network said we outplayed them, which if that Florida homer said it you know it's true, and our coaches just failed.

If LWS is right about the admin/boosters not being ready to get rid of butch during this season, then it makes yesterday's game hurt way more. It is so frustrating to watch special talent come to UT and then watch the coaches fail to maximize that it or just straight up waste it with bad coaching decisions. I wasn't too upset with the loss at first because I was hoping that it would be the beginning of the end for butch. Now we all have to stomach the thought of him being here another year at least. Maybe the coaches and team can get it together and finish the year strong like in 2015 but that's probably nothing more than a pipe dream. #bringteehome

"Lose one more SEC game and you're fired"

Nobody expected this team to lose only 2 SEC games. You might as well tell Butch to go ahead and pack his bags if you're gonna sit down and have that discussion.

The most Tennessee thing that can happen moving forward is Butch doing just enough to make it extremely difficult for Currie to fire him, but not enough to move the needle with fans, recruits, or national perception. So he'll extend him and then Butch will promptly lose to WVU and UF to start 2018, only now with a massive buyout protecting him.

This is what I've felt all offseason-- 8-4 is where we don't want to be. Tough to extend a coach for repeating a record that was unacceptable last year-- especially when the goal is to win the SECE and he failed to do that... again.

Yep, I'm assuming that 4 SEC losses won't win the SECE.

We lose to one of Candy, UK, or SC for sure. It's almost fact with Butch as HC. He loses 2 he shouldn't every year, and wins 1 game he shouldn't.

If you and I were thinking that, why weren't our coaches? It was a tight, low scoring game at that point. You don't risk it there.

When did LWS say this? Was it before or after yesterday's game? And I notice you said, "DURING this season..," is that how he worded it?

Oh you know how this board works. Beat Georgia and all is well until the next loss.

We have played 2 games where the last play of the game decided the game and in typical fashion posters can't get past that one play.

Man there are just too many bonehead moves from this coach to overlook it anymore. Even if we finish the season reasonably strong, he just mismanages the team. Don't want an interim any time soon but he needs to go after the season.

I disagree. It sets the tone and let's him know this isn't a coasting job.

It's a growth job.

Who cares what you lost talent wise - you are s great recruiter who has replaced all the talent, right?

Get it done then.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I think the fan base would have a hard time accepting me as the next head coach as my last head coaching experience was decades ago when I coached the mighty gents basketball team at my church. Still waiting for CBJ to crush a traditional opponent going away.
