JG has a quick release and a slightly better arm than dormady but has no touch and is a one read and run guy. If he's as fast as dobbs then that may work. If we just keep feeding Kelly/chandler, keeps being very creative in screen game then we can win games.

Question: is a one read and run guy much worse than a one read and force a throw guy?

Didn't QD hit Palmer, Kelly and Callaway in the hands with his throw on the last series?

The point is that the passing game had been shaky all day. So when you are in the red zone and need to make it count, you don't put it on them to make the catch, you hand it to the guy nearing 300 total yards for the game.

QD has been better at going through reads since game one. He makes it to his third then falls apart cause he thinks he's going to get creamed. If it was last year he would have. But the pass blocking has been excellent this year and have greatly improved. He's not as accurate he needs to be right now to win or be successful. None of his int is because he stared the receiver down 2 we're bad throws and one the rec broke off the route

Well, he was a liability on Saturday, and was part of the reason we lost for sure. He's been an interception machine to this point

Well, to return to my initial point, it's pretty hard to miss the logic of this sentiment. We'll see.

Edit: The reality is the plays called in the last series were close, three dropped passes.

Make a change at OC this week?

I know that will never happen here. That series of calls...

The HC had a set of headphones on. At some point, he's got to say, "You know this didn't work the last two times we were down here so maybe we ought try handing it to the guy that's nearing 300 total yards on the game."

Missed field goal

Missed field goal

Missed field goal

7 chances to score on goal line

INT

INT

INT on goal line

Allowed 70 yard game winning TD

Take away any one of those would have probably been enough to win. But even pulling put a victory would have shaken my confidence even more with Butch.

QD was not the problem yesterday. He wasn't great, but he wasn't awful either. The O-line was good against a quality D. Receivers not catching balls, Palmer's route running, kickers missing FG's, getting Jumperized, etc. were all issues. But who chooses which players to use, makes the dumb play calls, schemes poorly, and makes the stupid in-game decisions for the team? Those are the people that lost the game and other winnable games in Butch's tenure.

Guess that's part of the frustration. Every game except the Bama games in the last 3 years has been winnable.

The reality is that when your passing game has been shaky all day, yet you are nearing 200 yards rushing, you pound the rock. The decisionS to dial up the pass play 7 times to 0 rushes in those situations shows some pretty stubborn ineptitude.

If Butch made the excuse we don't have a dime package because of "health", he has sunk to a new low.
We can clearly see hiring a TE coach and then all of a sudden giving him the reins to run and call a offense in the SEC maybe isn't the smartest decision.
I know this kid is trying his best, but please quit making excuses for QD, he is just not good. He is not a freshman, he is in his third year as a college QB with all the resources to go along with it. You can point to more than half a dozen younger, more inexperienced QBs just last night that played lights out better, under the same pressure, same circumstances...

For this program to still have this many issues, breakdowns, idiotic decisions, lack of preparation, lack of recognizing talent and putting it in the right position to succeed, it just confirms and solidifies that Butch Jones is in/has been in over his head for some time now and simply cannot take this program any further. He has backed himself in a corner and is now lashing out and making excuses for his faults and shortcomings because he has no choice and knows he's been exposed for the mediocre coach he is.

He has now officially become a LIABILITY to the overall success of this program, and the longer he stays, the worse it will get.
He has taken this program from the shambles Fooley left it in, weeded out the waste and bad blood, brought in high character kids who are scholar-athletes and are true VFL's... He needs to get applauded for that and I thank him for that.
He needs to look in the mirror now, and own up to the fact that he needs to move on. If he continues to brush all of this off and make excuses, well then he is clearly in denial and I have no sympathy for him.
Look, when the media openly mocks your coach across all networks, it means everyone has come to the same conclusion and the jig is up. They have no respect for him and the media storm will not stop, but only get worse. Buckle up because this season is not going to be pretty both on and off the field from here on out.
I am not mad anymore and I'm tired of pointing out these obvious facts and faults, only to be called a negavol.
I am a graduate, love this team, and only want us to get back to being one of the best in the SEC and in the country every year. Butch is not the answer.

This.

I’m fine with taking a shot but 7 passes and not once do you think, “hey, why not hand it off to the best back in the SEC?” Stubborn.

Time to cut ties with Butch. The longer we wait, the more damage he will do. The team is stacked, we just need a good HC

Eh, I think you've gotta give him a chance to turn things around.

I wanna see how he and the team respond in the next 3-4 SEC games before a decision is made

Because "health" lol

Despite Wiggins, Osborne, and Shamburger all being available last week and none appearing on the injury list.

That's insane. Now THAT makes me mad.

So many examples of poor coaching and team management. From not playing the best players to not developing the players. Poor game management. Just everything. It's like he doesn't know when to be safe and conservative and when to open it up.

Example is on the pick 6. Your QB is struggling. Everybody is debating if Callaway should have caught it and all that. WHY even let him throw that pass?? Hand the ball off and if you don't get the first you punt.

One thing Doug Matthews spoke a little bit on this morning that I hadn't thought about:

If Butch is just absolutely opposed to going under center and running the ball in short yardage situations, why don't they have some sort of package to run the ball when you need a yard?

Surely with all the RB depth we have we could put together a wildcat or something and direct snap to Kelly/Chandler.

You've gotta have SOMETHING in your offense for when you need a yard and want to run the ball. The simplest solution is lining up under center and running or sneaking it, but there are other options toon

Absolutely baffling to me that in 5 years here Butch has refused to put in SOMETHING for these situations.

This! All those athletes and we can't come up with a wildcat package?

The writing is on the wall guys, he isn't going to get it done here. I'm sorry, I've tried to give the guy chance after chance after chance. He's not going to get it done here ever. I believe we cut our losses now, and allow Scott or Hoke to coach out the remainder. We could take our time with a coaching search, and possibly pull in a great hire. We are just wasting time right now imo by keeping him around

All that was on my mind when we got the ball deep close to our end zone and with Florida's defensive territory was that we were at risk for a pick six. Oh well.

Another thing about moving on too soon:

Does anybody really think we have our next HC on staff here? This team has enough talent to coast to 8-4 on talent if it's healthy and bounces go out way.

Fire Butch and name an interim right now, and you gave the prospect LSU had of facing pressure from players to roll with the Interim HC instead of making a coaching change in earnest.

If we make a change, it doesn't need to be anytime before the UK game, IMO. Ideally we don't need one at all, of course. But if we do, November is the time for it. Always.
