If I was making a list of possible HC's, I'd probably go with this:

1A. Kelly
1B. Mullen

2. Fuente (Assuming he continues to win)
3. Taggart (Long Shot)

4. Frost

5. Venables
6. Norvell

Well, I've calmed down. My wife called me right at the end of the game and her and the kids were out and had a flat tire. I had to go change that for her and had a chance to collect my thoughts.

I think everyone would agree that I've been one of the more positive posters on this board since I've been here for a year. I try to be as optimistic as possible. But tonight showed something very clearly: We have the players, and have had them for 3 years, we do not have the coach to win big. I have tried to overlook things for the past 3 years, but now they are more obvious than ever. That was the worst Florida team I've seen in my life time, and Butch, with more talent, in year 5, could not win. And even if he did win, it would have been because we have better players, not because of how he coached the game.

The past 3 years we have seen:
1. Serious problems in handling of personnel. Examples: Young starting as KR over Berry; jumper over DK/Bituli especially in key moments; the mishandling of Tyler Byrd. He was an All American DB and we have put him at wide receiver only to never target him with the ball. Even though he's listed as 2nd string, we will not play him at corner in spite of the fact that corner is our weakest position on the defense; The refusal to get younger guys experience in cupcake games, be it because we play so conservative that we can't put them in or we just don't develop them that way.

2. Conservative play calling. This coaching staff has coached not to lose since they've been here. See 2015 especially, but last year it was there to. In a strange twist, I felt they played the opposite tonight, and this relates to point one, instead of running the ball with their best player, they decide to throw the ball all over the yard in the red zone with a QB who was clearly having big time struggles. What in the world?

3. Talent development. It's year 5, and our 5 star players do not play like 5 stars. Look at Florida's DL how disruptive they were all night. Ours, in spite of a few plays, where almost a non factor. Those guys are highly rated and have not been developed. See Martin and the OL as examples of this as well.

4. Gameday coaching decisions: This is where Butch has struggled the most. This relates a lot to point 2. Some of his decisions just leave us scratching our heads, especially the way they called the game inside the 20 tonight and putting Jumper in for a large portion of the game even though it was clear he was a liability. Also, playing it safe with QD. We know what we have with Dormady. he's a below average QB with a lot of issues such as staring down receivers, throwing off the back foot, making bad decisions etc. etc. He was clearly struggling tonight, and Butch still will not take a chance to bring in the number 1 QB recruit in the country, who, if nothing else, could help the run game and I have a hard time believing that he couldn't pass as well or better than Dormady. But Butch will not take the chance with him and it is probably going to cause him to transfer.

5. Firing the S&C coach last year. Enough said.

I just don't think he can get it done anymore. If nothing else, his development of and use of personnel is the most concerning thing about him as a coach. I just don't think he can win at this level. We need to get Chip Kelly before someone else does. Pay the money. Try and hire the guy from OK state if we can't get Chip. Get someone who can win here. We are too talented to not be able to win.

A good coach wins by a blowout tonight. See Michigan. And yet, here we are with yet another loss to Florida.

Again, we have the players. We have had the players for 3 years, and we still can't win. That is coaching. There's nothing else it could be.

Next year guys. QD will be a senior leader ( clearly not leaving for the NFL)

Kelly wil be a beast - preseason all SEC

Callaway will be a beast - preseason SEC

Think about all the young talent that will get to develop this year to really turn it on next year.

Can't wait. Next year is our year.

You are sooooooo stupid, with butch this team isnt going anywhere unless he hires ELITE coordinators around him and goes completely hands off and at that point is he really the head coach

Just can't see a reason not to let Guarantano take his lumps.

At the absolute very least, he can make a play with his legs.

anyone with an offensive imagination and scheme that isnt from high school.

IMO the playcalling all game sucked and that sets the tone. One of INT was on the receiver. Plus 2 dropped touchdown passes doesn't help either

He shouldn't have thrown it. The CB was playing inside already pre-snap.

He threw a pick 6 which was a given.

He only completes passes under 15 yards. That's troubling and it's the 3rd game of the season.

I'm done with this DUMB staff. Butch will sink along with this QB. Build around the running game with a threat to run at QB and build off of that. Instead you act as if Dormady is a great QB. He's just a practice guy. It is what it is..... I bet his footwork only looks garbage in games too.

No it's time to bring tee home.

Look at his recruiting resume. It would be awesome to bring home the guy that won a natty for us. Would also be a huge statement to hire a young, African American head coach. Give him 2.5-3 million and then a huge pool of money to hire an elite staff

Unknown quantity. Norvell has skins.

Well said. Butch is our Ron Zook. He should be commended for it. Now is the time to make a splash move and regain our place at the top of the East. I'm excited for what's to come.

I know it sucks, but the absolute worst case scenario is we best UGA this weekend only to lose to USC or Vandy on the back end. 8-4 saves his job and we never get to make our move. We need to bottom out - as sad as it is.

Butch Jones is trash.

QD is not good. Throws off his back foot, fading away, almost every dam time.

Play calling was garbage.

I think if he does his fate is sealed. I don't think JG would do much better. It's a team effort and I think taking your lumps with him you won't win 7 games.

The receivers let me down a bit. JK just needed to run in the end zone celebrate with teammates on sidelines. Play calling for 3 quarters was horrid. You can't coach afraid that fl will stop the run. You dictate what they need to not think they will already. When they saw they could run it was too late.
