And the best facilities in the armed services.

Went to several Air Force Bases on detachment and it was like vacation.

I chose poorly

No kidding. When I got hurt in Iraq they flew me to Kuwait to see whether to perform the surgery there or in Germany. I believe it I was Ali AlSaleem? It was an Air Force Base.

My first night there I crutched myself over to the chow hall. It was a Friday evening. It was steak and Alaskan crab legs night. I was blown away.

I would get fat in the Air Force.

Not 10. As long as we are 8-4, this year, Butch gets 6 years with me. Because, UT will be loaded next year and if he doesn't get it done in these next 2 years, I will come over to the dark side and join u. Of course, you have been there so long, I can't remember when u were half-way positive.

The entire off season I said 8-4 is a success this year so I agree. The defense HAS to step up to get there though. If most guys come back yeah we are very talented on paper.

I used to be more positive back in the Kiffin days. Ever since he left and then having Dooley run it into the ground I've been in the dark

As for the matchup, look for more Daniel Bituli and Kyle Phillips on Saturday. We expect Tennessee to rotate more athletic playmakers to combat Florida’s speed on offense. Bituli is slated to to make his first-career start at middle linebacker, while Phillips will play a lot, particularly more snaps than he saw a week ago when Butch Jones called him Tennessee's best defensive lineman against Indiana State. The coaches also felt like Shy Tuttle had a some solid snaps as he continues to knock off rust. Tuttle has done a great job getting back. Can he return to his old form still is unknown, but having him back in the rotation is huge for the defense.

Also, Quart’e Sapp had a good week of practice and is positioned for some real snaps at weak-side linebacker. Sapp could spell starter Cortez McDowell fairly regularly. Finally, freshman safety Theo Jackson could see some defensive snaps, too. However given what we have seen the first weeks you wonder if the talk about playing more guys including young players is just talk.

Well, I thought Kiffen was a great hire and would have been, if he had stayed, imo. If he had any sense, he would have stayed and built UT up and then went to USC after the sanctions and by now, he could be in the same league as Little Nicky, Urban, Harbaugh and (I can't believe he is now considered elite) Dabo. He should have let another coach mess-up in a no-win situation like USC was at the time and then take the job. One stipulation, he would have to avoid getting UT in trouble with the NCAA, which I'm not sure he could avoid. Of course, that would still have eventually messed up UT, when he left for USC later on, but not as bad as it ended up with Dooley. Btw,If Little Nicky would have let Lane coach the offense in the NCAA championship game, I guarantee Bama would have won last year.

Cannot. Must not. Will not. Lose this game.

It would unleash the wrath of the Furies on Knoxville.

All I know is, if Florida suddenly has an offense Shoop must be left in Gainesville and fired immediately.

Honestly I'm a bit closer to giving up on Shoop than Butch right now. No reason for a million dollar coordinator to be as bad as he has been in the last 6 games (even with the injuries, giving up 600+ yards to Vandy last year was a joke). If we have a DC who is even just average in those past six games, we would've been in the Sugar Bowl and wouldn't have needed OT to beat GT.

If the defense doesn't get it done this week, I'd probably be cool with us just moving on from Shoop the next morning and making Warren and/or Hoke DC or Co-DCs. If what you're doing is that much of a failure, you've gotta be flexible and adjust at some point. And if we see another defensive performance like GT/Vandy/UK/Mizzou, then it's not like we really have to worry about our defense getting much worse if we do make a move.

100% agree with everything. The only reason I haven't completely lost hope in Shoop is because I don't think his talent suddenly left him over night. We saw a dominate defense in the 2nd half vs UF last year. What happened since then? Who knows. GT was a different offense than we'll see all year so maybe just maybe that's the reason for 600 yards. We'll see Saturday. Maybe the staff just doesn't mesh with Shoop?

Also, it was somewhat impressive that we were actually able to hold GT to 28 in regulation. 600 yards and like 42 minutes of TOP, looking at that alone I would expect them to put up atleast 40. So maybe, just maybe playing a team that isn't focused on controlling the TOP those yards will drop which will cause a drop in points also.

For anyone that remembers him "Camion Patrick" the 4* WR that played for Lenoir city a couple of years back who was committed to us,Was arrested in connection of a stabbing in Alcoa what a shame

And Bruin was probably the only single poster that didn't absolutely love that hire

I think he has to win 10 games in the next 2 years to prove that wrong. I don't even think he has to do it this year.

Pretty much the same. I think winning the east is very possible/improbable this year, but next year I really think we should have at least 9 reg season wins. After '15 season I looked ahead and thought '18 has to be the year with the most loaded roster for us. If he can't get it done next year then it should be time to move on.

Shoop has been a head scratcher. I just can't believe the notion that he just forgot how to run a defense. I am with you on the fact that I am in the middle ground with Shoop. This is his last year on his contract (was only 2 years) and I have been wondering for a little bit now if we will make Hoke the DC if Shoop ends up not working out. However, I am rooting for Shoop. I very much want our staff to stay the way it is in terms of DC and DL coaches because I know they are top rated at those positions.

If he doesn't do it this year, I really don't see it happening next year. Yes, I completely understand that players can improve from year to year, but I'd have serious doubts on this staff's ability to facilitate that. I'm not even saying we should move on if it doesn't happen this year- at this point it'd be worth hanging on just to get the recruiting class he's got in.

But as I've said countless times, the X factor is that the contract needs to be addressed after this year, and I'd rather cut bait than hamstring ourselves with a bad contract if we don't improve this year.

Yea, someone posted a link to the story a day or two ago. I saw where he was on track to graduate for IU. Sometimes the decisions these kids make make me scratch my head.
