I don't think it's unreasonable to think 7-5. I don't think that opinion gets you labeled anything. When you start getting into the replacing the coach discussion at 2-0 that might get you labeled. Not even that, but refusing to acknowledge that he didn't exactly start out with a good team, talking up McElwain and Kirby, comparing their records, which are COMPLETELY different circumstances, defending the gators while trashing the VOLS, that might get you labeled.

Now, some of the stuff I've said in this post may be more true of codknocker boy than you, but you two seem to have aligned yourselves together.... which also might get you labeled 😂

Truth. They want to play the "woe is me" card, but they have been aggressively touting and defending McElwain and Smart but won't do the same with our coach. Even so far as saying Smart now has the best talent outside Bama when all we heard last year was that UGA didn't have very much talent. SMDH.

But part of my point is that the UT administration doesn't give two sh!ts about what "the majority of our fan base starts to accept." It's going to take a long time before apathy reaches the level that will provoke any sort of reaction by the UT admin.

Like I said, let's call an Omaha for the moment. As many have pointed out, it's Florida week and reason to believe that we might get our first win in Gainesville since before the iPhone existed.

I'm with it. A win would be huge.

Best ever is a bit strong but Barkley is elite, no doubt. Highlights look like a video game

Saquon Barkley is the best RB I've ever seen. And for me that means since 2000 when I started watching football regularly. Only Adrian Peterson and LaDanian Tomlinson are in his class.

He's special.

I dont know but he's been very successful

Why would you go after Franklin? You guys just hired Smart.

Ha, just messing with you catbone. I know you're a Vol, despite your weekly spiral into a seemingly bottomless pit of negativity as game day approaches.

The woe is me part kills me. Spew nothing but negative then when someone calls you negative you're a victim. The mean ole sunshine pumpers called me a name. FFS at least own it.

I think he is saying it's dumb for the coaches to risk losing a game in the name of "hiding" some plays/schemes from future opponents.

By all means, you should advertise every weapon, tactic, and strategy to your opponent. Um, no.

I think they went into GT with a game plan built on the belief that we could score enough early to keep the defense vanilla, and just let GT run clock to their demise. When that didn't happen, they chose not to change the approach, possibly because it was a non-conference game that means less and possibly because they didn't want to risk injury (in a non-conference game). Since nobody knows what has been discussed between him and his boss, it's impossible to say what the motive was, all we can do is comment on our observations and speculate. *If* Mr. Currie has set an aggressive standard that involves winning the east, you might see a very different defense Saturday.

I don't like being behind in the middle of a game and being willing to lose said game just for the sake of not showing your cards to future opponents. If that is what they did I vehemently disagree with that strategy. Not that they care what I think lol

The only thing that makes me pause about this is the type of offense run by GTech. I have no doubt that we went vanilla last year in some mid major non-conference games, but I don't recall them doing it against anyone else. With GTech's offense, I wonder if they thought their scheme would eventually win out.

There is not a DC in the business that would want the stats put up on our defense in the GT game on their resume'. Those numbers were record breaking for a UT defense. Regardless if we started out bland and basic, very little if any changes were made throughout the game to stop their run offense. I get the philosophy of eliminating big plays, diminishing injuries, etc., but when were getting killed and losing the game something should have been done. This is what scares me.

dude said Barkley is the best RB hes EVER seen? How old is he 10? Gotta be kiddin me D4H.

Been watching NFL football since around 2000. Only Adrian Peterson and LaDanian Tomlinson are in the same class as Saquon Barkley IMO.

I think Saquon has better hands and ability to make people miss than Adrian Peterson and I think he's faster and more explosive than LaDanian Tomlinson. As an overall RB I'll take him over either one of them.

I don't mean to say he'll be fired. He'll probably get the full year. I just meant that the seat will heat tremendously if we lose Saturday afternoon.

Just for the record, we're the better team and I think we should win.

Heat tremendously? Disagree. How many times did Fulmer win in the Swamp? The fact that this game is away and sees UT starting a SEC rookie at QB is in CBJ's favor, IMO.

The seat will heat "tremendously" if he loses to the likes of Vandy and USCe again.

Bout half way through the game I would have had to try something different. At that point it was too risky to just hope that we could pull it out. I'm sure things were agreed on between Butch and Shoop before and during the game. I understand they didn't want to get anyone hurt, but if that truly is what they did, it's scared coaching. Same as not running the offense early against App St and Ohio last year.

Fahr Butch..... jk
