After talking to some folks, here's what we know right now...
Florida officials are meeting this morning to discuss plans for the game this weekend. While many options have been considered, it sounds like the main two venues being considered are Gainesville and Knoxville. There's optimism UF can host the game. The stadium is fine and they believe they have enough cops and emergency personnel to handle the event.
There's still several major issues to hurdle, though. The situation with 1-75, and getting gas, supplies and food into the city. Secondly, Tennessee doesn't have anywhere to stay on Friday night right now. Like all away teams, the Vols normally stay in Ocala before the game, but those hotels are booked from folks in South Florida. If these things can get sorted out, then the game should proceed as scheduled. If not, more avenues will have to be discussed. Could Tennessee fly into Gainesville on the day of? I would only think the Vols would agree to that if the game gets moved to like 8 p.m., and even then I'm not sure that's a viable option.
Again, it's a fluid situation. Folks seem to think a decision and announcement could come around early this afternoon.
