Fulmer level as a championship threat. Can play with anyone, anywhere and at anytime. Nationally respected everywhere..... Right now he has Tennessee as a JOKE.....

Dooley making us a bigger joke does not mean Butch Jones has not made us a joke still.
Finished last 2 seasons ranked. Currently ranked now. We are A LOT better off than we were under Dooley...the real joke. I can't believe I'm even having to argue this. Whatever. It's amazing how fast all of you have forgotten how far we fell. Smh. Am I satisfied with average... no. Am I willing to take a risk at an unknown commodity if we are winning 8-9 games a year? I don't think I am. Am I willing to take the risk if I know 100% that the UT brass will hire a proven P5 or better HC? Yes. Until that point, I'm willing to roll with Butch and hope he figures it out, because I don't think the UT brass will fork out the money for the known commodity. JMO.
It's a special kind of pitiful to see guys stake their speculations on the Vols failing. Can't even suspend their need to foresee the worse 'til things play out a bit. Not much of a way to enjoy Tennessee football. I hope for the best. Not putting money on the games. I have followed Tennessee football long enough to know the emotional dagger of a season falling short of expectations. Have slowly learned to enjoy and focus on the good of Tennessee football. But you guys carry on. I mean you could be right.
I'm being 100% genuine when asking this. Who is a (realistic) better replacement on the market? What coach out there could we get to replace would be an obvious improvement. Florida and Georgia could only pull McElwain and Smart with the same amount or program prestige (or whatever you'd like to call it) and better recruiting home states.
Chief, maybe it is the exotic offenses we have seen thus far. Maybe, just maybe, he is playing vanilla the first 2 games of the season. I don't understand what I have seen thus far. All I know is it's very worrisome to this point how we have taken a reactionary style of defense against inferior opponents, namely Indiana. We will get dismantled against teams with similar talent if we continue our current defensive game plan. I was a huge fan of the Shoop hire in the beginning. Something has changed though, it's like he isn't even controlling the defense anymore.

I don't know. He may not ever. I just think we should let him fail before we fire him.

I want to know, when will we be Elite under Butch Jones?
If we made a move, it would likely be to a G5 guy. I don't really see us hiring a guy from another P5 school, not that that's necessarily a bad thing.
I think there are a lot of great G5 coaches out there right now though. IDK who it will be, but I'd be willing to bet one of the next great CFB coaches is currently building his resume in G5. IDK if the timing will be right for us to hit on the next big guy to come out of G5 though.
Coaches who seem to be poised to make jumps to P5 over the next 1-3 years:
Scott Satersfield: App State (though admittedly a harder pull because he coaches at his Alma Mater)
Scott Frost: UCF (likely needs another year or two)
Frank Wilson: UTSA (he needs a lot of time to cut his teeth, IMO, but dude is already a MONSTER recruiter with in roads to LA and got UTSA to their first ever bowl game his first year as HC)
Mike Norvell: Memphis (likely needs to show more over the next year or two)
Chad Morris: SMU (Destined for aTm job, IMO)
