Why? These aren't the days of spurrier' gstors or Even early Richt's dawgs. Beat Bama and LSU and show us something. Stop getting out coached in big games. beating Mac & Kirby ehhhhh.
Fair, we're not Fulmer. And he had us rolling and we still didn't beat those two back to back but other than missteps vs a Florida, Bama or UGA, we didn't lost to less talented teams (year in and year out, yes there are outliers)These aren't the days of Fulmer anymore either. Jay, I want to be among the elite as much as anyone, but if we beat both of those teams again this year, which means we start out 5-0, then he has silence enough of the critics to deserve at least an extension. Lose to Vandy again, and that might change things. Honestly, as I mentioned above, I am very torn as to which camp I fall in. I really want Butch to succeed, because he has given so much to this program, and it is in 1 million times better shape now than it was when he took over. However, I expected a different team this year. I expected us to be a lot more physical. I expected us to tackle a whole lot better. We look extremely soft at multiple positions, outside of a handful of players who seem to play mad...I want 22 of those players on the field for our team We probably have a 5 to 7.
If I am being honest, I am not sure which camp I am in. I really thought this team would come out and play more physical, like the teams under Butch in his first three years. I see a little bit of that in a few players, but nowhere near the majority. That disappoints me. I did notice we were a lot more disciplined especially Monday night. I can understand having a few lapses yesterday, considering the short week and opponent. I am still impressionable, and certainly would like to have my mind changed by seeing a more physical team come out this Saturday.
LOL! Are you serious? Losing those two games certainly was terrible, but they do not come close to being on the same level as losing that Kentucky game against a WR playing QB. You're better than that, Jay.

how about we get through SC and Vandy... then start looking at that... I'm sure folks were saying the same thing after the Hail Mary last season and looked what happened.

A bunch more injuries is one of the things that happened. I am not defending and justifying that Butch is an elite gameday coach or anything. He certainly has a lot of room to improve. However, we could do a whole lot worse. Do I want to be mediocre? Absolutely not! I keep hoping to see Butch growing as a head coach and doing some things better, because I am not sure I want to risk going down that path of hiring another coach and risking making a bad decision, that ends up leaving us in the dumps again.
Two things that I think Butch is elite at currently Recruiting and motivation. He may fall short in a lot of areas, but those young men absolutely play their hearts out for him. Make fun of him all you want about some of his quirky game day decisions, but him being an elite motivator is a fact.

Doesn't it seem like we've expected something different than what we've got every year since Butch's 1st year.
Still can't get out my head how we wasted Derek Barnett's domination. Just can't shake that
Here's my take. TIFWIW.
Both opening opponents ran unconventional offenses. Both teams run these offenses to try a negate your talent advabtage, in particular your speed. They make you play diciplined, assignment football requiring players to think. Thinking takes your aggressiveness away. I also believe that GATech was a survive and advance type of game plan meant to minimize chances of injury.
I may be wrong but I think we'll see a different football team particularly on defense. The odds makers have it at about a push if your consider the points they give for home field advantage. I think it's a close game and could go either way. Am I 100% confident? Absolutely, not.
I'm very serious. Position by position, even with injuries, we had more physical talent then those two teams combined.
Is that an incorrect assessment?
