Anti-Trump Hysteria and Silliness

Okay then. On to the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial. They, along with 9 or 10 other presidents were slave holders. Burn Monticello to the ground! Hell, tear down Washington D.C. It was named after a slave holder. Tear up the Constitution. Look who signed the thing for God's sake. Forget history........not important.

Come on now, I know you don't mean to conflate Confederate soldiers with the founders of the country as Trump did earlier. Those are two separate and distinct historical figures.

LOL! Very mature. By 1972 Grad, I assume that makes you about 67? Impressive display of eloquence. I don't care if they are torn down or stay up... It's pathetic to care one way or the other... and I don't think that's what really motivated these protests in the first place. The statue of Robert E. Lee being torn down was just a convenient excuse for these losers to partake in activities which they wanted to do anyway.
I don't know every individual's motive for marching because I wasn't there.

I do know that I am very interested in history, and spent some time this Summer touring the Gettysburg battlefield. It is a sobering experience to stand on a field that had 165,000 people shooting each other to the tune of 51,000 of those killed, wounded, captured, or missing in 3 days.

It is hallowed ground in my opinion for the men and women on both sides of the conflict. It saddens me to see people spit on their memory, and it serves zero purpose in the grand scheme of things.

Slave holders, one and all. Tear them down. I read that Al Sharpton called for the Jefferson Memorial to be torn down yesterday.

I wasn't there either but it's safe to assume that the people who showed up with swastika flags and clubs in hand weren't interested in honoring any of the fallen soldiers of the Civil War.

There are plenty if Republicans who would not call themselves white supremacists who nonetheless like it when Trump talks about violence from counterprotestors. It's a bit so subtle attempt to shift blame from one group that deserves it to just a vague concept like "We all hate racism."

Look at this board. You see that deflection constantly.

Perhaps he mentions it because the.counterprotesters.ARE.violent. ...duh

You seriously cannot be involved in a legal field adhering to and upholding the laws of our great country and espouse the absolutely biased drivel that you consistently post.

Admit it, you're the courthouse janitor aren't you?

It makes me exactly 67. It also makes me old enough to be around people who were one generation removed from fighting in the Civil War. My grandfather told me about his father fighting and being wounded at Gettysburg in 1863, and losing a leg.

My father was born in 1909, my grandfather was born in 1880, and his father in 1846. He went off to war as a young 16 year old, and came back a cripple. He didn't own slaves, and his parents didn't own slaves. They fought for their homeland in Virginia after having their home destroyed by invading troops from the North.

I respect all of this and probably said some things I shouldn't have earlier... Sorry. I just don't think that the protesters in Charlottesville were genuinely interested in saving the Lee statue. They wanted to raise hell and spout hatred and intolerance. The tearing down of the statue simply gave them an excuse of where to congregate.

I used to live near there, probably still one of my favorite places in this country.

My great grandfather fought in Company D of the 4th Virginia Cavalry, commanded by Col. Williams Wickham. They were called the Little Fork Rangers for some creek-Little Fork- in the area where they were recruited ( He was from Rappahannock County near Culpeper). The 4th Va. Cavalry was in Brig. Gen. Fitzhugh Lee's Brigade, Major Gen J.E.B. Stuart's Division of the Confederate Army of the Potomac( now called Army of No. Virginia) under the command of Gen. Robert E. Lee, who was dearly beloved by his men. I stood on the battlefield where a piece of him ( his right leg) was left behind, and it was a sobering experience.

He was doing what any of us would have done if our home was attacked, crops destroyed , and horses stolen.

My grandmother was born in 1906 and grandfather in 1911 both of my great great grandfathers fought in the civil war for the south. The only reason the big house wasn't burned to the ground when the union marched through that part of VA was there were wounded union soldiers being taken care of in the house.

My moms side had a couple of guys that fought for the union but we don't talk about them much.

You can dislike white supremacists and still recognize the counter protesters aren't good people either. That's not endorsing the kkk.

Actually, David Duke just gave it a ringing endorsement:

Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth about #Charlottesville & condemn the leftist terrorists in BLM/Antifa

...but I guess that wouldn't bother you at all, would it?

What David Duke says doesn't bother me in the least. ... he's a pig and inconsequential.... you just go ahead and shoulder the concern for all of us you big 'ole softy

I'm from near Gettysburg. An amazing place.
It is hard for anyone to grasp the size and scope of the battle and battlefield without actually seeing it in person. I like that whole area and have been to Gettysburg twice, and Carlisle and Hershey 4 or 5 times to car shows.

There is an area thats literally no bigger than the land my house sits on..and 5000 people died..It had to look like the Game of Thrones Battle of the Bastards..

Anyone who is interested in the history of this country.... it's a must visit

Its hands down amazing. I've been going there since I was a little whippersnapper.

I remember as a kid thinking it was cool, especially when watching Unsolved Mysteries filming a segment at Devils Den (it was hilarious). But as I got older and actually took the time to read what happened, and after my own war experiences, it hits home how hard core that whole battle was. I appreciate it more now for the bravery (or crazy) from both sides to do what they did there. I can't even fathom it.
