Charlottesville white nationalists riots

BLM would exist without the nazis and the white supremacists due to the whole law enforcement excessive force issue. And that ebbs and flows and in time will fade. But the rest of the left leaning groups would wither away for lack of need if the alt right wasn't instigating things like Charlottesville.

What a dumb post. The Marxist and communist groups have been creating and backing these radical groups since the 40's. They will continue pushing this country to a more fascist type gov and useful idiots like you will continue to carry the mantle for them.

Let's apply the same logic to any Antifa or Anarchist rally where a minority gets violent and riot/loot the area.

Look at Berkley recently - is it possible that people were there to protest the speaker but didn't support the idea of violence, rioting and physically obstructing people from entering a building? (Hint: the answer is yes). Should they all be labeled as the same as the few violent nutjobs that had an entirely different agenda?

Take any G8 meeting - are any protestors against capitalism to be lumped in with the Anarchists - afterall, they're right there with them while the Anarchists promote their agenda of chaos and destruction.

This is typical deflection. A good person would not be a member of a crowd chanting slogans of hate... and I do not believe most people would be a party of a crowd chanting things which they did not also believe in.

There wouldn't have been a thing like Charlottesville had extreme left groups not shown up to fight with the white supremacists. That was the sole reason they were there.

You think the angry white supremacists are going to fight against each other?

The narrative you and left are pushing are setting up future protests to be violent. Go be a counter-protester, wear armor, bring weapons, and get in fights. The left and the media will ignore your part in the violence.

Taking down a statue isn't "rewriting history", there are plenty of books that cover just how awful NBF was.

You are frothing at the mouth over a man who founded the KKK.

Then by the same token if waving a banner or burning a flag is free speech, a monument is also free speech. Since I apparently don't have the reciprocal right not to hear or see (dumb as that sounds) your free speech, then you have no right to demand removal of a statue.

I mistakenly called him that - but he was in a leadership position, was a recruiter and expressed his sympathies to the Klan well after he "denounced" his participation.

I'm joking when I say his name should be removed but it is hypocritical to selectively exclude people from the "tear it down" tirade just because they joined your team eventually.

My team is just here to sht on trump, I don't give a hoot about the skin headz and antifa's. Let em David Duke it out.

All of which were traitors and oath breakers. Thanks for making my point on why traitors don't deserve statues.

Very Volprof thing to say.

What exactly made them traitors? The fact back then States had more power than the central government which was the way the Constitution was written and they held loyalty to that?

Or because ignorant whelps like yourself say so and don't know their history?

So we should tear down anything that's offensive? What about offensive language in public. I mean there is a lot of things I find offensive in public, both behavior and symbols.

I'm offended daily by what one and almost always more of the fools who occupy congress have to say. Chuck Schumer and Lindsey Graham generally lead the bipartisan list. Elizabeth Warren and most of the CA flakes don't even have to speak to be offensive.

Groups like the white supremacists, white nationalist, and nazis thrive on confrontation. The same with the antifa and the blm folks. Both are most effective if they have the opposition group there to raise hell and protest them. All of these groups should be ignored. Had that happened with the white supremacist protest Saturday, they would've said their piece (which is their right in America, same with antifa and blm groups) and nothing would've happened.

The media coverage of this is simply building a powder keg that is being primed for detonation. This has the potential to be very bad for the future of this country.

Most of all, turn off the damn tv people.

Good post.

That was a bizarre distinction to make by Trump given the circumstances of Saturday... almost as bizarre as conflating two of our founding fathers with a Confederate General. Washington and Jefferson were flawed men but they also fought to build our nation while Lee fought to divide it. Only a person with an agenda akin to Trump would fail to acknowledge that significant distinction.

Mentioning Washington and Jefferson in the same breath as Lee when speaking about monuments to honor each of them isn't a conflation. It is just a natural extension of the logic that says we should tear down the Lee monuments.

Washington, Jefferson, and Lee were all slaveholders. They all thought the same way about slaves/slavery and advocated for the perpetuation of slavery for various reasons.

What separates Washington and Jefferson from Lee is their time in history. Jefferson in particular made statements that the debate over slavery was probably going to tear the country apart eventually, but not during his day.

If Washington and Jefferson were around when the Civil War began, they almost surely would have been members of the Confederacy. Both were slaveholders from Virginia with states' rights sympathies.

But at least I have discovered something in this thread. It isn't necessarily the racism of the Confederacy that offends those who want the statues removed, but the fact that they were traitors (which is a somewhat debatable point). As long as you weren't a traitor, or as long as being a slave owner or racist isn't your "claim to fame," then having monuments and memorials to virulently racist slave owners is OK. That isn't what I expected.

His claim to fame is commanding the Confederate Army.

Still, the mental gymnastics you have to employ to say "tear down anything related to Robert E. Lee, keep anything from the Founding Fathers because it is different" must take a lot of flexibility.

The liberal motto is "Well, that's different!" Said most appropriately with hands on hip, an offended look, foot stomped on the floor. Generally means they lost the argument because there was no rational counter.

What's the deflection? You believe that all the G8 protestors adhere to the views of the worst of the bunch?

You believe that all the people that show up at a BLM rally because they think the police have a problem support the chants calling for "dead cops"?

Do you think all the people who protested in Ferguson supported the chants to burn the place down?

But this is what they want. They are willing to make violence with the idea that the majority will get behind them. I mean what part of the population is a part of or sympathetic to white nationalists? I would say far less than 1%. But the way the media frames it every other white guy wants to bring back lynchings and Jim Crow. If you are white and voted republican, you're a racist. Case closed.

They will continue to lose pushing this strategy.

There is deflection all over the place... and yes, people who show up at BLM rallies are mostly in simpatico with it's members and in accord with the slogans that are chanted.

all people showing up at BLM rallies want cops dead?

You're either with us or against us eh?

Binary choice only - got it.

Whether they mean that literally or not... most of the people who show up at those rallies do not object to chants such as, "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon!"

If they did, they wouldn't be there. What goes on at those rallies is common knowledge.

Where is the end to this?

Take down all the monuments. Rename all the buildings and parks and military bases.

Then what?

It doesn't seem too far fetched that people are next.

You want to run for public office? Ancestry.com says your great great great great grandfather owned slaves. Or someone in your family fought for the confederacy. Forget it.

Who among us is going to pass this test of righteousness? There is not one monument, plaque, park, or building dedicated to someone who committed no sins. If you dig long enough everyone is a scoundrel. I do not see the point in this endgame, and I don't think those pushing the agenda do either. There is no perfect person, so this crusade to purge our public spaces and history books of "bad people" will leave both empty.

Then we have the perfect comparison of Nazis and libs. One requires proof of no Jewish blood and the other proof of no Confederate blood. Libs beginning their campaign of ethnic cleansing - likely beginning with straight white males who haven't been members of the Lincoln Log Brigade.

So all those attendees are bad people then right? I mean they must be if they openly support lethal action against cops for being cops.
