HBO's "Game of Thrones"

I think they were going to enforce a punishment pursuant to their laws and customs. She was subject to those same laws and customs by virtue of marriage but went renegade and used force to overthrow the power structure. All those poor Dothrakis are going to get mowed down by armored knights. How are they better off?

Well they love to fight..so maybe instead of killing and raping children and women, it will actually be a real fight this time?

Perspective of the story ser. Limited amount of story time. Which is told from a Westerosi mindset. How useful to the world has Dany's benevolence been. Slaver's Bay which she has abandoned is still Slaver's Bay and now she is about to bathe a war torn Westeros in dragon fire and Dothraki rape.

I think Dany has at least shown some worrisome tendencies. She couldn't be talked out of crucifying the masters in Meereen (one for each cross along the road). Jorah had to talk her out of killing all the masters in Yunkai when they took back the city, by reminding her about the Mad King (and that he would be dead himself under that form of justice). Tyrion had to talk her out of burning both Astapor and Yunkai to the ground (IIRC), again by reminding her about the Mad King (and telling about his plan for King's Landing).

To her credit, most of the time she listens to her advisers when they council restraint instead of just going with her instincts, but for someone who claims to know what her father was, she sure does need to be reminded and have the dots connected for her each time an opportunity arises to do something it seems like he would do. Her "Burn them all!" plan being both the last and the worst yet doesn't exactly show growth in this regard.

I don't think Dany is mad now, and I don't expect the story to go the route of Dany going mad, but I think there's enough evidence to support it as a possibility at this point.

Dany nor Arya either one are insane. That is still true.

Not sure how Arya got dragged into this conversation but she is simply a vigilante whose actions are quite rational in that context. She was cooler than a cucumber while slashing Walder's throat and poisoning the Frey's. No emotion. She just said her peace, watched them die and walked out like a boss.

Guess you missed the episode when she influenced Drago to ban rape after a conquest? Which led to the fight with a chief which led to his death? Maybe your moral quandaries would dissipate if you rewatched the whole damn...and paid attention? :)

Did they ban rape or stop one rape? I haven't rewatched in years so I may be misremembering but I thought Dany wanted to stop that rape. The rapist took offense and Drogo dealt with his disrespect of the Khaleesi.

All rape.

"Everybody's got a plan till they get punched in the face." - Iron Mike

I think Dany hasn't truly taken one on the chin - not a solid one. I expect that to change as soon as they land on Westeros.

As long as she has Tyrion, he will keep her even keeled... if/when he ceases to be her hand, I can see her going old skool fire-n-blood on some mofos

All rape.

We know that law either didn't survive Drogo or spread to the rest of the Dothaki. But considering the political bent of the loudest part of the audience I imagine there will be no more rape in the show. So I'll retract that part.

Oh, somebody will rape somebody before you start jonesing too much. :)

Was that a total ban or a situational ban? Also, wouldn't the ban only apply to Drago's khalasar? This is getting pretty far afield. I think she's a change agent akin to occupy wall street bringing in hordes of filthy squatters to agitate powers that be.

Since that was always one of the bennies of a good victory, Drago's guys knew it wasn't temporary...hence the resulting grouchiness. Of course it didn't apply to any outside Drago's purview but she's in charge of all the Dothraki now so why would she allow it when she has MORE authority? You'll remember that the Greyjoys had to agree to cease raiding and pillaging as part of their alliance? She's pretty damn progressive. :)

I was about to say, I've never gotten the impression that the writers (Benioff and Weiss) care anything about political correctness or hurting the sensibilities of their audience.

They'll kill a direwolf and feed a newborn to the hounds on you.

It was his original argument that Dany and Arya both are crazy. You have to actually go back to when this argument started yesterday to see why.

I watched it on Three-Eyed RavenVision... that I spliced from my neighbor's weirwood tree.
