This Vandy argument is ridiculous. The loss in 2013 should not be held against Butch. Vandy also beat GA and florida that year. Franklin is probably a top 5 coach in football and Butch's roster that year was pathetic. You all know this. Even with that pathetic roster and Dobbs playing as a true freshman, he still nearly won that game. Last year, as is a fact, we were ridiculously injured. But that isn't an excuse for Butch. But somehow Fuente can get blown out by Syracuse and that isn't held against him. Makes no sense!

Last year's loss was bad. But at least we can see how injured we were and know that the game isn't a representative of where we are as a program considering we blew them out in 2015. VT loses to Syracuse with a healthy roster, but that doesn't matter. 2013 Vandy team was better than the Dooley roster Butch had. Fact.

Tennessee can be 0-11 entering the Vandy game, and Vandy can be 11-0, and my expectation would be to win the game. Especially at home. Every Tennessee fan should feel the same, and there is no excuse I'll accept for a loss in that one.

Not trying to start a huge fight but I'm genuinely curious, how many guys did we have out against Vandy?

All our draft picks were out there minus JRM, right?

This is getting ridiculous. I don't want Butch fired but the spin being put on Fuente is out of control.

Yes, he lost to Syracuse in his 1st year. He also beat everyone from Miami to Pitt to ND to Arkansas.. Yes that Arkansas, in year 1.
Btw, he also played for his conference championship in year 1.

Bass, I have no problem with you wanting Jones over Fuente but the attempt to make what he did in his first yr as somehow sucking, is just wrong.

I'm not sure who was out, but we lost because of defense. Primarily the interior defensive front sank us in a couple games down the stretch. If I recall correctly, were a couple of our best interior defensive linemen out or dismissed?

Missing every DT but Vickers, and even tho DK and Cam were out there they weren't the same. DK said he wasn't 100% until 2 weeks before spring ball and all of us watched Cam play terrible. Even the analysts at the senior bowl went on and on about his tape being worthless after injury because he wasn't the same player.

We were also missing many back ups as well and we're playing different guys at linebacker and at safety.

I didn't say Fuente sucks. I think he's a very good coach. I'm just pointing out that the arguments people are using against Butch could easily be applied to fuente. But Fuente gets excuses and the benefit of the doubt and Butch doesn't. Grass is always greener they say. And Butch doesn't have a loss on his record near as bad as that Syracuse loss.

And the best team they beat was Miami. ND was 4-8. He also lost to Syracuse and Ga tech. He plays in a terrible division. Worse than the SEC east. The east this year had wins against the west. Much better than the division Fuente played in. Oh, and Butch beat him with a healthy roster by 3 touchdowns.

Who was the best team we beat?

He won 10 games and his division in a year they were predicted to finish 5th. In year 1.

We were the overwhelming favorite to win our division and lost to teams picked to finish 5th and 7th in the division. In year 4.

Spin that however you want, but I'm more about results than excuses.

It's pointless arguing about this. Wait until Fuente has been coach longer than 5 seasons (1 in P5). Arguably his best win was UNC who lost by 2 scores to Georgia.

In 5 years he has 2 losing seasons, 2 10 win season, 1 9 win season, 2 top 25 finishes, 1 conference title and 2 division titles. 2-0 in bowl games and 2-6 vs top 25 teams.

If you take out his win vs Ole Miss while at Memphis does he receive nearly the hype he has recieved? Probably not imo

Well, if you want to talk about all of Fuentes accomplishments and how he won his division, Butch smoked him. So that's a better win than Miami, yes? Also smoked Florida last year which is a better win than Fuente had last year since you want to compare
