WTF? I'm a career English major and English professor. Of course I'm a classical liberal. As far as socialism is concerned, there is a lot I like and a lot I am dubious about. There is an enormous amount of socialism (Medicare and Social Security, for example) in our system which would horrify 99% of the conservatives here if it were pulled.

In summation, I don't feel extremism is ever the best avenue to stroll down when it comes to social issues. I am not at all a typical religious person, but I do approach every issue which will affect my fellow man from the perspective of, "What would Jesus do?"

To be technical, not ending a sentence with a preposition is a rather old rule in English usage which came to us from Latin. This rule is no longer considered relevant in modern English usage. Latin has been considered out of style for quite a while now. As far as linguistics are concerned, I'm descriptive, not prescriptive.

I don't know..the historical jesus was often referred to as a "teacher" or at least a rabbi which is a teacher of the Torah

Nevertheless...don't sweat the prepositions:

Grew up lower middle class in east Nashville. Dad worked nights at the Tennessean/Nashville Banner and mom ran day care out of the house. My siblings and myself all received at least a Master's degree. Had a job since I was 13.

It is ONLY because of regulations that our air and water is relatively clean now--a fact that seems to get lost on conservatives. I assume that if experts tell me there is a problem with carbon in the atmosphere, with climate change, or with a certain toxic in the environment, that the experts know what they are talking about. Experts huh?

Experts that pushed for laws such as the one banning older trucks in the harbors of CA? Laws that led to the exploitation of the drivers who work there?

In 2008, California sparked the labor problems at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach by banning older trucks from entering the harbor.

Companies suddenly faced the prospect of replacing 16,000 aging big rigs with newer, cleaner trucks.

To avoid the $2.5 billion price tag, the port trucking industry launched a lease-to-own program that pushed the cost onto truckers, most of them independent contractors who had to cover their own expenses. Trucking companies arranged to finance their fleet, then passed on the cost of each truck to an individual driver.

I'll give you another example of trusting the "experts". In recent years the EPA set new emissions standards for diesel trucks, particularly big rigs. The only way manufactures could meet the new standards without sacrificing mileage (much) was to use a product called diesel exhaust fluid. DEFs main ingredient is derived from the ammonia in chicken ****. Sounds great right, clean up these trucks and find a use for chicken **** (besides being a politician).

Well guess what, the experts failed to take into account what happens when this DEF is spilled and gets into the water. When you add ammonia to water it's like a super-food to algae and bacteria which in turn deplete the dissolved oxygen within the water column. Right now there are thousands of truck stops and terminals around the country discharging oxygen depleted water to the environment, streams, creeks and rivers. So good job "experts" try to fix a non problem and create a massive one.

I have specific examples if you want me to continue.
