Anti-Trump Hysteria and Silliness

The election wasn't rigged in the sense of voting fraud--our own president lying about the integrity of our voting system to soothe his wounded popular vote ego, sad. But it was badly tainted by Russian hacking, the theft of information from the Democratic Party--and of course, by reams of disinformation and propaganda that got licked up by America's many rubes. Whether there was collusion, we'll find out--but the Trumpsters certainly wanted to get cozy with the Russian dictator, we know that.

We've had a lot of disinformation from corporate America for decades--energy companies setting up front organizations to peddle BS about climate change, to name one example. But the GOP is DEEP into disinformation and conspiracy theories these days because they know the GOP base is stupid and gullible. Look at where most of the political scam artists can be found--on the political right. The right is teeming with these fringe fraudsters who prey on the fears and paranoia and religious convictions of older white people, especially those living in rural areas. I've seen all of the direct mail from these conmen--disgusting.

I love how McConnell and other GOP pols say that they MUST repeal and replace the ACA because //Republican voters demand it.// What a complete crock! Republican voters might //expect// it--but only because they were fed a constant stream of propaganda and lies about the ACA by Republican pols and fat right-wing radio hosts since the day it was passed. If the ACA is repealed and replaced with Trumpcare, Trump supporters will be among the biggest losers. Working people vote against their own economic interests when they vote for Republicans--but they're stubborn, darn it--and they don't like all the gays and dark-skinned folks on the other side.

She was an eight year Senator and a four year Secretary of State. Her competition?

Bernie was a Senator for eight years (she got him there)

Martin O'Malley - Governor of Maryland for eight years, Mayor of Baltimore for eight years...say that's a break even.

Lincoln Chaffee - Governor of Rhode Island for four years, Senator for eight years. Call that another break even.

Jim Webb - Assistant Secretary of Defense for three years, Secretary of the Navy for about a year, Senator for four years, oh and a US Marine Captain that was awarded the Navy Cross. Yeah, not sure she wants to compare resumes with him.

So, she had better "qualifications" than just one of the candidates.

And the GOP you will ask?

Well, I'm not going to go through the list, but you have:

Nine Governors, most with multiple terms
Five Senators, many with multiple terms
Some of the above also served as Congressmen
A neurosurgeon (let's see her "qualifications" compare to that)
A former CEO (exactly what company did Hillary run before?)

Hillary Clinton was completely underqualified for that job compared to the majority of the politicians she ran against.

It's amazing you cite the "integrity of our voting system" in the general election and the theft of DNC information, yet don't make any sort of self-critical connection to the DNC information exposing a lack of integrity with our voting system.

Clinton was "completely underqualified" compared to others? I think you missed going to school. You are lacking in logic. Being president is a government job, a policy job, a political job. So while being a neurosurgeon is cool, it in no way qualifies one to be president. That's like saying that an aerospace engineer is qualified to be a surgeon, or a surgeon is qualified to be a pilot or writer. Nope! So your argument that Clinton should lose qualification points because she wasn't a Marine or a surgeon or a business owner is stupid--they are all wonderful occupations, but they are not related to government service.

Further, Webb, Chaffee and O'Malley weren't even serious contenders for the nomination; none of them lasted more than a primary or two. Sure, anybody with substantial government experience is qualified, to an extent. Clinton was more qualified than any governors because governors deal with only state issues. Senators deal with national/federal issues--as does the president--and being Secretary of State makes one an expert on foreign affairs. (Look at Tillerson: A lifelong businessman, he's been completely floundering in his new position. The reports on him have been terrible--he doesn't know what he's doing, and even he would have admitted that at first.)

Clinton was around government and politics most of her professional life. As First Lady she tried to organize major health-reform legislation--needed then, still needed today.

In the end, of course, the nominations and election, sadly, had nothing to do with qualifications. Except for Carson, Trump was BY FAR the //least qualified// GOP candidate. A CEO? Yea, a shady real estate developer (a business well known for shadiness) who declared bankruptcy four times and has a list of ethical transgressions as long as your arm. Every other GOP candidate but Carson was more qualified. And let's remember that /character/ is a qualification. Trump is a racist and a pathological liar and a narcissist and a moron. He doesn't read--he likes to sit around watching TV and tweeting--and, most of all, he likes spouting BS to promote himself and denigrate others. His whole campaign was based on insulting the other candidates--Republicans and Democrats. He's that rare individual who is both STUPID and yet incredibly ARROGANT--the definition of a narcissist. He's got the personality of a 14-year-old bully. He doesn't have the vaguest clue about policy or foreign affairs or anything. He has no idea what is in the GOP health-care bill and DOESN"T care. He should care--it's a huge issue--but he doesn't. He just wants to bull$hit people like you at some point--convince you that the bill he knows nothing about, that will throw 22 million off of health insurance is "great."

Of course Clinton wasn't an ideal or perfect candidate--nobody is. My preference would have been Sen. Warren. The bottom line is that, like her or not, Clinton was light years more qualified to be president than this sinister mobster who's a disgrace to the presidency.

If the economy improves, the GOP doesn't go full retard by passing an inevitable failure of a healthcare bill, pass tax reform, Trump being reelected becomes a distinct possibility.

Not in my mind. Of course in my mind he is out within the next 12 months. Also in my mind, people have an innate tendency to eventually gravitate toward what is right and good. But, I've been wrong before.

Most Americans knew little about Trump before this campaign and election. They knew him from his reality TV show--and they associated him with being successful because he's spent 40 years, day after day, bull$hitting anybody and everybody about his "success." New Yorkers know Trump better than anybody, because he lived there all his life. I lived in New York for more than 20 years. New Yorkers--80 percent of them--hate Trump. They're used to laughing at him because he's long been known as a ridiculous, sleazy blowhard. Nobody's laughing now because it is one thing to be a sleazy real estate developer and quite another to be president and carry your many dishonorable qualities to the White House. If you want to lie and say stupid things and make a fool of yourself as a private citizen or businessman, nobody cares. But when you do that and worse as president--casting aspersions on democratic institutions, alienating our allies with your arrogance and idiocy, lying constantly for political purposes, then we have a problem. Trump is too old and sociopathic to change. You know he's been counseled--many times--by many people to stop tweeting and stop shooting his mouth about things he knows nothing about (which is just about everything)--but he can't.
