Yeah, I remember when everyone said Edgerrin James' running kept defenses guessing and was the reason why Peyton was so good. Then James left the Colts and disappeared and Peyton went on to win two Super Bowl rings. People tried to give credit to Marvin Harrison, too. Then he retired and Peyton just kept racking up the 4000+-yard seasons, including his record-breaking 5000-yard 2013 season several years afterwards.
Players came and went, but Peyton was still Peyton. Giving credit to his teammates for Peyton's success is like saying Leonardo Da Vinci knew where to buy the best paint brushes.
People waaay underestimate, IMO, the benefit Brady has had by playing for the same head coach his entire career. OBTW, that coach is recognized as the greatest of his era and his teams the most dominant. If you drop passes or run the wrong route on a Belichick-coached team you don't play. It's as simple as that. That's why he continues to win no matter who takes the field -- including the year when Brady was injured and they still won 11 games with a different guy taking the snaps. It's arguable whether Peyton had better WRs/RBs, but there's no argument that Brady played on the better teams, with better run production and defense.
Yeah, because unlike Peyton, Brady won all of those SBs without any help from his teammates, right? We're not discussing the most successful QB or the QB who played on the best team. We're talking about the best to play the QB position. Brady has played the same # of seasons as Peyton, but he will have to play 3 more seasons at a high level to surpass Peyton's records. If you can just dismiss that as insignificant, then I guess we'll just have to disagree.
