Hilarious. We beat UGA on a hail Mary, but to people like you, the fluke was losing to USC and Vandy.

Butch is certainly lucky to have people like you hanging on.

Actually, no, we had Georgia beat at 59 minutes and 43 seconds. Then THEY got a miracle strike, then we came right back with an even better one. That game was no fluke, just one very exciting finish.

So...Butch is certainly ...cursed?... to have people like you hanging on? Is that the correct rejoinder?

Learn some football. Georgia scored a defensive breakdown of disastrous proportions. Which as the season went on, we learned was common for us.

We scored on a Hail Mary. I promise you they are completely different things.

No one feels the need to start their D over to the basics because it gave up a Hail Mary.

Heh, I'd suggest you take your own advice...and go watch the game again.

At Bama and at Florida this season. Tough way to the playoffs, even before factoring in Georgia, South Carolina (until Butch beats Muschamp this will never be an automatic), Georgia Tech, and LSU. Not to mention Vandy; Butch is 2-2 against them. Then the SEC championship game against Bama or Auburn.

I'm glad we are being discussed, but I just don't see it.

Yep, I agree. Uphill climb. But nice that some outside our own fan base see the glimmer of an outside shot. And according to this guy, a better shot than 112 other programs.

(unless he's just including us for the click potential of VolNation; that's always a possibility in the internet journalism era)

The Hail Mary was a well executed play that they practiced on more than one occasion.

We have been playing the 4 teams every year since 92, it's never happened before last year......fluke.

Speaking of flukes....App State fumble recovery in OT. Yea, Butch is really rolling.

MCB wins are the traditional springboard to a SEC title.

The whole idea of us going into OT with App St is a fluke. So the way it played out was a fluke as well.

(1) We'll go 11-1 in the regular season winning the SEC East.

(2) We'll win the SEC championship game against Alabama avenging an earlier loss.

(3) We'll beat Ohio State for the national championship.

And Dobbs will win rookie of the year this season just like he won the heisman last year like you proclaimed
last season.

Actually it was not a fluke. They handled us straight up for 4 quarters.

I've got a different definition of "handled us".
They did give us all we wanted and then some, but to say they handled us for 4 qtrs is an unnecessary exaggeration.

When they beat Michigan that was a fluke. Losing to us, not so much. I guess you're right about that.

Fluke: unlikely chance occurrence, especially a surprising piece of luck.

The App State game going into overtime, wasn't so much a fluke as it was a predictor for the 2016 season as a whole, that saw us struggling against nearly every team on the schedule. We didn't have a single regular season game save TN Tech, where we didn't come out and look unprepared and undisciplined for 2 or more quarters.

The fluke, as you put it, is that we ended up 8-4 instead of 6-6 in the regular season. Because that end zone fumble recovery against App State, and the Hail Mary catch from Jennings were about as lucky a break as a team can get.

Hey, at least our fans have some dang passion...one way or the other. Recruits see the passion. Go on pretender boards like OM, Oregon, etc, etc. Crickets compared to VN. We are getting there. May not win SEC E this year but we can if our D shows out, and one of QBs is money we have a shot at proving "experts" wrong! Go Vols!!!

5 SEC Teams who will beat each other up mercilessly.
AL SEC West plus FlSt, TN
Aub SECw plus GA, at Clemson;
LSU SECw plus at Fl, at TN
TN at FL, at AL, LSU & GA
GA at TN, FL, at Aub, at ND

3 B1G Teams: I guess we will see just how much depth Ohio State has. Penn State is a sleeper team. Wisconsin is a good team in a weak division

3 B12 Teams: Winner of OK and OKSt should be in playoffs. Schedule favors Oklahoma State. Texas still needs another year or 3.

2 ACC Teams: Not this year for Clemson but Dabo is building something. Look out for Florida State.

2 PAC12 Teams: Peterson is a great coach, so Washington has a chance. USC will once again find a way to squander good talent.

My early picks for playoffs would be:

Oklahoma State, Florida State, Penn State and Washington.

I came real close to picking Tennessee as their schedule, including OOC looks better than the rest of the SEC contenders. But it is still a tough schedule with the 4 best contenders in the SEC.

1st 4 looking in:

Oklahoma: at Ohio State, at Oklahoma State
Ohio State: Oklahoma, PennSt, at Mich
LSU/Tennessee winner
Alabama: Hard not to pick Alabama but the losses the last two years hurt more on experience than talent. Early game with Florida State will decide their season.

After beating Fl and Ga to lose to USC and Vandy is a fluke.

Team 121 hasn't lost a game. As for any team beating them, I've got to see it to believe it.

CBJ has been building this team since he got here. He could go flop, but he could also get 121 to pull together and do something big.

I am glad for the weather change and school being out. It will give me more time outdoors with the kids. So yes it's exciting.

No it wasnt a fluke. In both the Vandy and SC games, Butch simply got out coached. There is no other logical explanation.

I mean we were dominating Vandy and then they out score us 21-3 in the second half? Zero excuses for that.

Losing to SC with a new HC and an 18 yr old QB who was playing his first SEC game? Zero excuses.

The only fluke was our Georgia win. It actually should have been a loss.

How can anyone expect anything but disaster in 2017? We'll be breaking in a new QB, have less talent, and depth at a lot of positions is going to be slim to non-existent. Butch made some upgrades to the coaching staff, but lets not forget that he made a guy with no Offensive Coordinator experience our new OC. Expect more offensive struggles that will cost us games. From what I've seen, people are expecting UT to win 7 to 10 games this year, but lets not forget that Butch has a proven track record of underachieving and losing 2 or 3 games he shouldnt every year. So we'll probably win between 4 and 7 in reality. I'm guessing the Vols will go 4-8 or 5-7 in 2017. Shoot me

Tennessee has never lost 8 games in a season, in their 100+ year, history, of playing football
