UT gets their bowl rings

Life's too short to be so damn serious about things like this. Let them take some time to appreciate the journey since it's over in a flash. It's just a bowl game keepsake. Anyone continuing to parrot the participation trophy nonsense should be embarrassed.

If it just a bowl game keepsake (which wouldn't be so bad without BoB ring, honestly)then don't publicize it. Its all over the media today. I get why Butch makes a big deal out of it...recruiting. That doesn't make it anymore palatable however, especially to those previous Vols that actually won something of consequence.

"Do you want to go to UT and get rings for regular season wins or come to ________ and win real Championship rings?"

It's a keepsake that was just given out. Same with the Bristol ring (except they were free). Why do some constantly feel the need to suck the enjoyment out of everything?

You're really going to sit here and complain about a stupid Music City Bowl Ring that has no impact on you whatsoever? You might think it's stupid in your own right but maybe the players actually worked their a** off to win that game but most of the fans didn't care cause it was just a bowl game and not a National Championship game. Does it suck not playing in the National Championship game? Yes but regardless of what kind of game it was, our players still won and earned those rings. When they grow older, they can look back on this kind of stuff. They don't get to play college football forever so why not just enjoy what you earn? Instead our idiotic fans criticizes them cause it's something that doesn't fit our criteria when all we do is watch these players in front of a TV screen.

There you have it. Welcome to the year 2017. Everyone is a winner.

I, nor the two lettermen I spoke to, criticized the players. It's not on them.

It's not about whether or not the rings were free, it's about spending nearly 40k of funding just to celebrate a win in week 2.

Again, from the link you provided...

The athletic department spent a total of $39,793

$37,193 was spent on the bowl rings commemorating the 38-24 win in Nashville, while the Vols spent an additional $1,113 on Music City Bowl pendants. The remaining $2,600 went towards additional Battle at Bristol rings, supplementing the over 100 rings the team received from the event.

Did you expect Butch and the players to deny those Music City Bowl Rings? I just don't get our fans at all. If they're going to get upset over a ring then there's no hope for our fanbase.

Exactly. If UT all of a sudden started winning real championships and bammer started winning MCB and parading their ring around....

we would make fun of bammers and calling them losers.

Ok...to be fair, I have to retract my opposition to the BoB rings if the event supplied and paid for them. I have no issue with that. If Butch/ UT decided it was something they needed to do, that would be different.

That also casts the MCB ring in a slightly different light in my opinion. I still think a ring for anything less than a Top 5 Bowl, or some type of Championship is a bit silly and millineal....but whatever.

Oh...well that's a relief. Wouldn't want then to feel left out.

I hope I'm kidding, that's bush league.

They may have, I don't pay much attention to other men's jewelry.

Well except for Mr. T. You can tell the season by the amount of gold chains. I choose to believe they are all real and he wasn't renting them.
