Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

Agreed, they were bad. That's why making predictions about things no one can actually predict because there are way too many variables makes no sense.

Jamal Adams wasn't a surprise at all by the way.

i think the Jets were surprised.

I'm actually a much calmer person since D4H and wildasamink started taking you guys on and taking some of the pressure off me. It was hard being the only free thinker. I can tune out occasionally and not feel like I'm on the verge of a aneurism all the time. That vein on my forehead has shrunk significantly.

You're the only free thinker?

And happy that he was still there at 6.

I was hoping the Titans would take him at 5, but I'm good with Davis, even if it was probably a little high to get him. At the end of the day, the Titans badly needed a top flight WR and, by most accounts, they got the best one in the draft.

"Free thinker"?? Define free. Most of your posts are devoid of reality, just like those of D4H and Wild. 95% of us on here recognize that you'd be much better served to mix in some common sense and pragmatism every once in awhile. Facts would be helpful too rather than constant pie n the sky stuff from deep left field all the time. Just saying.

given how it worked out with the other two WR's going before the titans got that 2nd pick in the 1st, not a bad thing to get Davis there. probably higher than anyone really valued, but that doesn't matter, given the run that was made on offensive skill positions early in the round.

the only argument you might make on the 2nd pick is at CB do you take AJ or TW? and that's just a matter of opinion.

all in all , i think titans did pretty good.

the niners were the biggest winner. Cleveland didn't hurt itself, which is the biggest victory for them.

He's obviously trolling you, dude

here's some spots qb's could be taken tonight in the 2nd round....NYJ at 39, LAC at 38, AZ at 45, CLE at 52, CAR at 64(they have a pick at 40 too, and could pull the trigger here on qb project)....

My predictions were no better than anyone else's yesterday.

That was about as unpredictable a 1st round as there has ever seen. Practically no mock draft got more than 3-4 picks right.

Other than Garrett to the Browns, Fournette to the Jags, and McCaffrey to the Panthers, almost every other pick was a surprise.

They are all unpredictable. That is why most of us don't claim to know what will happen.

That's why most prognosticators of the draft put it in a way that its the most likely scenario. Not like this kid who says something is going to happen like its already a fact......well, before he moves his prediction 100 different times to cover all his bets.

Correct, that is why most don't say "book it."

Once you mention it on social media people start repeating it and next thing you know it's a butterfly wing starting a hurricane. The power of words. People are EASILY influenced. They all want to be part of the herd.

We are not talking about snowflake millenials here.

Ok, Cleveland radio is killing Dobbs right now too. I'm done. I'm surrounded and outnumbered by people with no vision. I give. What in hell don't people see? I need to learn how to not care anymore. I need to learn how to stare at my hand all day and be happy. I'm going.to go sit on a mountain top and meditate.

Good luck finding one of those in Ohio.

But, I will say this. The Browns have played this draft very well so far. This was the draft to pick up a project QB in the second to third round, and it appears that is what they will do. I give them a solid A so far.

And Dobbs is a very strong possibility there, but I would bet on the ND QB if both are available because of proximity.

I am thinking he will be there in the 3rd round for the Saints or Redskins, which are both better fits for his skill set anyway.

Would love to see him go to the Steelers, though, if he lasts that long.

These are all situations which would allow him some development time with strong offensive coaching.

I may be wrong, but I have never seen Dobbs as an NFL quarterback.

Sadly, I don't either. GREAT human being. Obviously smart. Obviously has the physical tools. But there has always been some kind of disconnect... some lacking instinct that enables a Tyler Bray to put a pass in a tiny window where the receiver can make a play. Dobbs was consistently late with his throws and often put them in a bad place for the receiver even on catchable balls.

Others have suggested he didn't read D's well either. That could be a contributor... especially the pre-reads required for some of the passes in UT's offense.

I've read and heard that Manning usually had an image of how a play was going to unfold before the ball was snapped that was so clear he really didn't even have to look where he was throwing. Dobbs never demonstrated anything of the sort.

He's going to be a great engineer IMO. He's probably more passionate about that than football anyway.

I don't think that he is accurate enough to throw the ball in the small windows that you get in the NFL, and I believe his running ability will be negated by the speed of the defenses. He also seems to take off running too soon before checking out different receivers.

True but there's more than that. WR's are paid for production. Top tier WR's that have a QB that takes off instead of getting them the ball... tend to have a problem with someone hurting their pay check.

Half the QBs in the NFL should never have been there. Truth be told, I couldn't name half of them anyway.

I've always found it interesting that for the 'best' 32 guys in the country at their positions, half are pretty mediocre.

This is what I mean. How was I wrong about Dobbs?
That he was better than (fill in the blank). That he would win the Heisman or at least be there. That he would lead UT to a SEC championship.

In virtually every way you could have been wrong... you were wrong. We're all pretty used to it.... as well as your backpeddling and denial when you are called out on being wrong.

The "facts" you posted are nice... but weren't your predictions.

Stop disrespecting the best player to come out of this university in 20 years.

That's interesting... better than Jamaal Lewis, Jason Witten, Peerless Price, Al Wilson, Peyton Manning, Chad Clifton (2 pro bowls), Eric Berry, Jerod Mayo (2 time pro-bowler, rookie of the year), Ju'waun James (3 year NFL starter), Zach Fulton (NFL starter)...

It is difficult to say whether your general ignorance of college football or specific ignorance of UT football is more impressive.

Dobbs is a great guy and was a good college QB. He's not the best player UT has produced in the last 20 years by a very, very long shot.

Yeah, I think you're right. Problem is, he must be trolling 100% of the time on here because all his other posts are as nonsensical. And I just don't understand doing that. But yeah, that last post, it occurred to me I was being played.

I agree with your thoughts on Dobbs top to bottom. I would love for him to be an NFL QB for years to come but I never did and still don't see it happening. If Bray had Dobbs mind he would be a starter somewhere and make loads of money. Instinct is something you don't grow into. JMHO!:banghead2::mf_surrender::banghead2:
