Darrell Taylor impressing, compared to Barnett

Taylor and Kongbo on the edges could be explosive this year. Shy and KMac healthy in between them, and the DL could be even more dominating. Fingers crossed.

That would be nice, I thought I saw reports saying Shy wouldn't be ready to go until mid to late season though, hopefully wrong.

He or any one else does not have to be Derrick Barnett or Vereen. It is entirely possible that d-line takes a step back in pass rushing ability and improves against the run. An improved secondary allows for more blitz packages (possibly from a better, more improved LB corp) to make up for lack of rush from DEs.

The effectiveness of your defensive unit will depend on its chemistry as well as its personnel.

I'm really proud of the work Taylor has put in to get this kind of recognition....

Marcus Tatum:

“Darrell Taylor, you’re gonna see it, he’s pretty crazy off the edge,” Tatum said. “He’s one of the most … naw, he’s the most athletic person on this team. His first step is pretty great. I compare him to Derek"

We sure could use a big season from one of our edge rushers.

DT is one of the many reasons we should be excited and optimistic about Team 121.

Barnett set the standard for the young guys. He's got some big shoes to fill but I feel good about the DE position next season, especially with a healthy group. Looking forward to seeing some speed off the edge during the O&W game.

I agree:good!:. But first, let me welcome you to this site. Just don't mind the negas. Now. Back to off-season prognosticatin': Imagine how good team 120's defense would've been had Shy and Mac been healthy...or, heck...just a decent pair of bona-fide d-linemen, and not awkwardly morphed-in d-ends having to open gaps for l-backers and/or plug holes opened up by SEC O-line studs... neither of which are taught in d-end kindergarten. Let's imagine Taylor and Kongbo, or whatever d-end combo winds up working like heck, do, indeed, provide savage edge damage to opposing o-lines, and add decent depth's-worth of bona-fide d-tackles...along with what looks like's gona' be good l-backers and a far more solid back-side. Well, looky here! Wishful thinking, once again, for Shoop's fellas. My personal wishful hopes are eye-balling a healthy group that'll look like Shoop's old defenses on steroids. Except for the usual Butch haters, most of us truly expected a 10 or 11 win season from last years boys. Injuries...despite the negas' pontifications...were the sole reason team 120 didn't win the east and, quite possibly, didn't wind up in cfb's version of the final four. Here's to hope...that our boys can stay away from the injury pandemic. It'll be interesting. GBO!

I hope he has DB'S durability too. I would take less sacks if we can have someone stay healthy at the DE position all year.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but how do you get a password of your own to remember, because I'm not getting that. What I'm getting is a different password through them that they send me. What do I do? I try to contact someone, but the page is solid white, or it tells me I can't go to that page. While I get there password, I can only use it for a little while, then it locks me out again from the board. Can someone help with this? I'm new to the board.
Thanks!
