Weidmer Has Questions About Big Orange Caravan....

So I'm not sure this gets laid at Currie's feet. It takes much longer than 18 days to put an event like this together and no sites had been secured or times for each location. Sounds more like the ball got dropped or the decisions about this were made by the Hart administration. I know many of you, including portions of the media, want to use this as fodder to feed the hysteria surrounding our AD hire, but that is not well placed. My two cents is to give this guy a chance to get started here before the movement to get rid of him get rolling. I swear I've never seen a fan base eat its own like this one does. He's been on the job for 18 freaking days.

It's tricky trying to schedule around the coaches' commitments and existing events. July has SEC Media Days, the Car Wash, numerous football camps and clinics, charity golf tournaments and other events, and the coaches are being pulled in all directions. Then you have new recruits on campus and fall camp. UT is a little late getting everything nailed down, but the truth isn't nearly as attention-getting as "No-Guts Currie Nixes Caravan!"

We have to be the most whiny ass fan base out there. We will find anything to complain about, its amazing. No wonder the kids at the all american game gave us the worst fan base.

Jimmy Hyams said on Twitter that the big orange caravan would be happening this summer, mainly due to the transition of the AD. Truly no big deal, but you guys want to find anything to whine about.

He also said he expected Mo Couch to be reinstated before the bye week

I don't know why some of you are disappointed if there isn't a BOC, who wants to listen to a bunch of failing coaches make false promises?

This seems to be another in a disturbing trend of UT Administrative blunders. They are purely reactionary, never getting ahead of potential issues. Watching how Alabama handled their AD search, and then seeing how Tennessee appeared totally inept in its search is just infuriating. You didn't hear any crazy speculations of whom they would be hiring. They announced it as soon as they were ready to, and before any leaks became click bait. There was no internet (and possible Board) infighting over who should get the job. They got the job done. Meanwhile, Tennessee had fans looking crazy, the Board looking clueless and the entire administration a joke.
All they had to do was put out a communication as soon as they knew that it would not be happening at the same time of year it had for years prior. They could have touted a Summer Caravan and tried to hype it, or just stated that it would be coming soon if they weren't sure when it would happen). Just terrible management that feeds the click bait media.

:eek:lol: except none of it was true. check the links on the previous page.

the caravan is happening, and even in MW's article, it never once actually confirms it wasn't happening.

just a reaction to the IDEA that it MIGHT not happen.

:good!:
