Smh at volatil and charger. I expected volatil to disappoint but I had high hopes for you Charger!

I'm pretty much a career "disappointer". My wife has pointed this out many times. :(

I feel so alone sometimes. Hey, my kids think I'm alright! Forget everything I said, go cubbies!

You don't fire an 8-4 coach unless you have your replacement man identified and he is A+ tier. A 9-4 coach is a B coach, there aren't a ton of guys that are upgrades. Most people are either straight up worse or they will be equivalent which the chaos from a turnover would make them not worth it.

Agreed.

A poster on VQ was at practice today and shared his thoughts...

Seems like that poster saw a lot of the same things I did last Thursday.

The team looks really good for it being so early in the spring. They have a quiet confidence about them. It seems Butch has it as well with how he has been doing practices without the constant yelling.

Chandler is going to be a beast. I think we'll see a lot of him early. The only thing that concerns me is he is not coming for spring.

I think CFA will be a lot better than some think. He played pretty well last year (minus the fumble causing bust v. SC).

I wish we had a fullback type of power runner for certain situations, but hey, it's not like we'd ever use one anyway.

It wouldn't surprise me to see CFA carve out a role as a 3rd down back this year since he seems to have good hands and will be the 2nd most experienced back we have. Chandler's the more naturally talented runner IMO, but it's premature to call him the number two back right now.

He'll have a bit of an adjustment period, as almost all freshmen do.

I'm skeptical that CFA will be anything but a change of pace back. Need to see more to know for sure. He didn't really stand out to me on the reps he got last year by they also weren't reps to show much. It only took on carry from Kelly vs Bowling green to see he had something special to him.

Hopefully we won't need him to be more than a change of pace for the next two years. If he can carve out a role as a solid 3rd down guy or passing situation guy, then that should be good enough to give Kelly/Chandler a rest.

More posts from the poster on VQ...

Base alignment was a 4-2-5. Only saw 4-3 in drills that were deemed short yardage. If it makes you feel any better Baylen Buchanan made some splash plays at the Nickel today. I think he had a pick in one drill but couldn't see if he controlled it to the ground.

Meant to include this in the original post as well but... Shannon Reid ... WOW. This kid will be a player. You could tell it was his 4th college football practice but he really flashed today. Had one particular rep in a tackling drill where he SMOKED the RB. The hit evoked some expletive-laced shoutouts from Cam and the Berry twins on the sideline.

Carlin has a nice burst to him. However he has the build of a WR. Not thick and didn't see a powerful rep from him today. Good kid and situational player. JK looked like a franchise RB today but I'm concerned he's the only SEC RB we have going through spring ball.

I really think Marquill will be one of most improved guys this fall. I can remember seeing him last spring as an EE and him being on the receiving end of Butch's mic corrections. This spring he ran every rep with with 1's (that I saw) at RCB.Specifically remember him having a pick today (undercut a slant, I think) and can't remember a ball being caught on him. Now, I the WRs lined up across with him weren't overly impressive so ... "grade of slaw" and all that. But to my eyes, Marquill is a future star.

God built Kongbo to be a football player (newsflash). In seriousness, you can't overstate how much this kid looks the part. Definitely is a bit leaner than he was in the fall. Took all his reps at DE (again that I saw). Cause a false start on Richmond in team period (not a good thing IMO as an offensive guy) but a testament to Kongbo. He also started playfully taunting Drew after that rep and seemed really engaged and into practice (very telling). The false start drew obvious frustration from Coach Jones and JG. Darrell Taylor started opposite Kongbo but went down with what appeared to be a stinger during 11v11.

Filling out the secondary today: Moseley at LCB Osborne RCB Baylen Nickel Warrior and TK at Safetys. Martin was dressed but in a non contact jersey. Gaulden was not in pads.

I kinda wish we could see Jakob Johnson play some fullback

Good to hear Osborne being a dog early on. Need him to take over. Kid has a lot of talent and fits the mold of the Buckeye CBs(had an offer from them too). Need him and Warrior to lead that backend for us.

We are going to need Ty Chandler to be ready to go. We are one injury away from disaster there.

Hopefully he'll be able to take some clock away from Moseley. I'm not buying into the good practice reports regarding Moseley for a third year in a row.

Looks like my soccer question from earlier worked. I will have to hold onto that one and use it for another rainy situation :).
