It's a good tool to bring some chemistry to the team and creat accountability/ ownership of the team by the players. Just because it's not new anymore doesn't mean it should be done away with... It was never about anyone but the players....

Its a joke

Its a joke

Just curious but what makes it a joke? Because you don't understand it? Or because you think it's gimicky? I can assure you there are PLENTY of things that go on within a program like this that the players buy into and use for motivation. Just because you don't see that side of it doesn't make it a joke. A couch potato calling the work and motivational tools of a D1 team a joke...now THAT'S A joke.

I'll always remember last season's comments in practice. They hyped the team up so much like we were world beaters... I'm taking everything with a grain of salt.

I agree. However, the one thing I keep seeing as a comment by all observers is that everyone seems to be more fit, better sized for their natural body, quicker, ect.
I hope this is the real truth. If so, it speaks well for the new fitness coach. Not to mention the program as a whole.

It's a gimmick.. I bet you're wanting to have a black stripe on right now at work or wear one on spring break to impress the ladies

I say it's not achieved championship results years 1-4, so cut it now/yr 5 and just practice and play the games.

Anyone know who were the first 4 players to have stripes removed in this cbj program?

It's not, but there's at least bodies with experience on that side. Priorities imo

If the coaches and Byrd himself are sold that his best potential is at WR...no quarrel and I live with it. If the ONLY reason he stays at WR is "experience"? That'll backfire. He has very little experience and is starting over new with whomever wins the starting nod at QB. We have several freshmen with a year of practice under their belt at WR. We're currently going to need two or three TRUE FRESHMEN step up and deliver at cornerback. Needs and experience between the two groups is a wash imo.

I get the idea behind it,thought it was cool at first, but now think it's outlived it's usefulness. We've had guys who've played a lot throughout the season and done good things who still had their black stripes on their practice helmets at the end of the season....were they not worthy yet? Had they not proven themselves?

It went from being kind of a pretty cool, accountable rite of passage the first couple years to "why the hell does that guy still have his black stripe on in weekly practice of Vanderbilt week in November?" last season.

Disagree. Moseley, Martin, Buchanan, Osborne, Gaulden....we literally don't need even a single true freshman CB to play at all.

Conversely, Byrd is the only other WR who's shown playmaking ability besides JJ since Josh Smith is a physical mess coming off a season with 97 receiving yard. New QB is gonna need some help from somebody who's played a little bit. Maybe Callaway and/or Johnson can offer good support/depth, but they have 8 combined 2016 catches between them.

Plus, I'm banking on our new former military DB coach straightening out a pretty talented group of DBs who have a lot of collective ability and experience.

I think that would be a good guess.

Who else could it have been though? A veteran leaves a few guesses. Could still be another JJ in Jack Jones if his name wasn't mentioned or Eli Wolf but there is video of him catching a ball. It has to be Jennings & like one said he was probably running up & down the Neyland steps.

Did he not practice the first day of practice either? If he practiced on Tuesday then that might squash some of our theory's on Jennings punishment & more could be going on or into this about Jennings missing practice. Thanks.

Hopefully they didn't want him to miss the first day of spring practice and then his punishment started for practice #2. Just pray to god its not injury related.
