If Kelly will be as good as bb says (which I hope he will be) then why does our QB have to be mobile, other than 1 or 2 times a game?

Keep the defense honest. Unless they change the blocking scheme we NEED a running threat at QB to keep the DE from crashing every time.

So the deep ball in the bowl game was a jump ball?

What about the UT-CHATT game?

Or Malone in stride against Florida?

Also had dimes against Georgia.

Missouri he dropped another bomb in there.

You all severely undervalued Dobbs I see.

I said he improved did I not? He threw some good balls but to say he is a great passer is stretching the truth. Do I think QD is the second coming of Bray? I don't know. He did some good things in VERY limited time. We shall see.

I just wanted to defend QD a bit because everyone is thinking JG is the king of the hill right now without every stepping on the field in a game. It is QD's job to lose no matter what the fans think.

I'm ready for the battle.

Watching QD against TT again right now. He has thrown some nice passes already, the dime to Byrd over the middle was a great ball. He also severely underthrew BJ on a deep route but was bailed out by PI, and he threw a ball from the 1 yd line 10 yards out of the end zone that was meant to be a throw to the pylon for Croom. So far he has been fine, but as BB said, he doesn't seem to be an elite QB prospect to the point that if it is close you would take him over JG. If it's close, I go with JG for the athleticism. Truth is tho, whoever the players are following has a good chance to be picked. Who are the receivers listening to and wanting to run routes with? Who is leading the offense, JG or QD? Whoever that is will be our QB imo

That same game Dobbs dropped a dime to Malone over the shoulder in stride. BTW

I have a hard time criticizing Dobbs for anything these days. He wasn't perfect but I think we will realize how underrated he has been in a few years. And he is one of the best ambassadors for the program we have ever had.

This all sounds very plausible (I disagree that QD has already been "under the lights" btw, in the sense that his game time hasn't been any more meaningful than a scrimmage) and will probably play out that way, unless...... JG is just too good to keep off the field.

Plus we have the Larry Scott factor. I fully believe coach Scott will have a big say in this. I have no clue how aggressive or conservative he will be handling it.

I think you are right about Coach Scott, but I also think Jones is a little snake bit on starting younger guys too early.

Honestly, we don't know what we have. QD and JG are now getting quality reps with our top receivers.

JG seems like the real deal but QD also has some serious talent. IIRC Alabama wanted him badly. Practice cannot get here soon enough.

I just want the best player to win the job. IDC who it is but I do know that soon as the starter starts slipping that there will be a lot of I told ya so's.

Too early for Peterman may not be too early for JG though. Each guy is different.

Who knows? I'm just glad we have actual football to talk about.
