Kamara Showing Out

So from what I can see his times during the last half of the 100 are faster than most all other gold medal winners before him? That's what I've been saying the whole time, he's faster that everyone else in the last half of the race

Oh for sure but that's the obvious part which everyone focuses on since, well, it's pretty astonishing. What I was wanting you to notice (and germane to all this 40 time talk) is the first part of the race. There's this myth he doesn't have the juice up front.

First, throw the reaction time out since that's literally the time spent not running between the starter's pistol and pushing out of the blocks. Of all those times ONLY Maurice Green in '01 was faster even at a mere 30m than Bolt. In fact only Bolt and Green were under 3.8 seconds at 30m.

If you want to assert that Bolt's not the best ever at his reaction time then that's a fair criticism. Once he's actually moving, and I mean even inside 10m, he's nothing short of remarkable.

Kamara is killing it, man what i would give for one more year of him on the Hill, but im just being selfish, clearly he was ready to get paid. Side note, any one else think fournette might be on an eddie lacy trajectory with his heavy weigh in and lack of explosiveness so far? 240 is a load and i wonder if he can keep that under control for his career.

Early in the NFL scouting combine, LSU running back Leonard Fournette’s weight was a topic. It was surprising that he was 240 pounds. That’s big for an NFL running back. A 28.5-inch vertical jump wasn’t a positive for Fournette either.
**********

Fournette ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash, which is a blazing time for a back that big. As NFL writer Warren Sharp pointed out on Twitter, that’s the fastest time ever recorded for a running back who weighs 240 pounds or more. Derrick Henry’s 4.54 was the record. Fournette ran 4.52 on his second attempt.

Good for him! Hopefully he'll land at good franchise and/or where he'll have a good opportunity to play.

Dobbs has never been caught from behind. Kamara has been caught several times.

Dobbs has less initial burst than Kamara but better long range speed.

I think he runs a faster 40.

I don't know that Dobbs will have a faster 40 since he lacks the initial acceleration that Kamara does. I think he runs just slightly slower than Kamara in the 40, but still turns in a great time.

I would take Dobbs in a 100 meter race over Kamara any day. Once Dobbs finally gets going he leaves defenders in the dust.

If y'all don't think Malone has 4.4 speed then watch that slant route agains Fla. Would not be surprised if he ran sub 4.4.

His top end speed is legit. But I'm most impressed by the power he runs with

LOL.

His combine performance raised his stock. An average 40 didn't hurt him one bit.

Alvin is a surefire first rounder.

We haven't had 3 RBs in the first round since 2010 and 0 twice since then. I don't think a not strong RB with a decent 40 time is going to sneak into the 1st round, but I guess we'll just wait and see.

The thing that really hurt him was running a 4.65 on the second chance. That's a pretty big disparity and it's a lot different to run 4.5 and 4.5 (Cook) than run a 4.53 and a 4.65.

Kamara will improve his 40 at the Pro Day... not worried, just a couple of steps/clicks off basically everyone else... He and Cook should be the top two overall...Fournette or Mccaffrey next in line. Scouts are looking at the total package and Kamara can catch better than any of the top tier backs...

Nah, Cook embarrassed himself today.

Some of you guys need a reality check. Please check out all the athletes that have officially clocked a sub 4.4, that list ain't that long.

AK numbers were just not that impressive. 39 inch vert is nice, 15 reps at his 215 is pretty weak, 40 time was somewhat underwhelming. Drills were so so. Apparently he has the iq and other intangibles so glad that's going for him

Bench press really don't matter, especially if your just a leveon bell type back. The vert and broad jump show his explosion, the 40 was somewhat concerning but that's about what NFL teams predicted him to run.

I would argue that upper body strength for a RB is pretty important, even if he ends up being more of a slot utility player

#1 among RBs in the vertical leap
#1 among RBs in the broad jump

Both jumps placed him in the top 10 among all combine RBs going back to 2003.

So no his combine performance was EXTREMELY impressive.

How many other guys finished #1 at their position in two different events and among the top 10 all-time for their position?

The only reason you're saying this is because his 40 time was only average and the 40 is the sexiest event. If his jumps were average but his 40 was a 4.36 you probably wouldn't be saying his numbers weren't impressive.

Alvin Kamara dominated the combine. And that is the objective truth if you value the other events as much as the 40.

They stated on nfl network that has vertical and broad jumps were top 10 all-time for RBs at the combine going back to 2003.

So he didn't just test explosively. He tested as one of the most explosive RBs in combine history.

Yeah I knew that vertical jump was stinking high. Especially for a running back. What do receivers usually jump??

The reason I'm saying it is because this years running backs are not that all impressive and Kamara numbers are not great. LIKE I SAID: heard he killed the interviews and he has the unteachables. How about you slow your roll a little bit D4H.
