Here's a fun list. There is no way #1 should be #1, IMO.

THE TOP 50 FAST FOOD ITEMS - THE RINGER

I rarely eat fast food, not a snob, just don't ever think about it. Looked at the list and have never eaten 80% of them. My top 3 on that list would be 1.Krispy Kreme doughnuts, hot fresh chocolate.......yep. 2. Micky D's fries. 3. Spicy chix sand from Chic filet.

Oh, and KK at # 40? GTFO

Fawk cilantro. Lol. I've got 6 plants I bought because them sumbiches don't like to grow from seeds in the Behr garden. They pissed me off last year.

I've got....

6 cilantro plants
4 dill plants
2 curly parsley plants and a 1 foot by 6 in space of flat seeds.
4 Rosemary plants
2 Greek oregano plants about a 2x2 ft space of seeds
2 Italian oregano plants and about a 1x1 ft space of seeds
The basil I already mentioned
1 chocolate mint plant

All in my garden

I also have

2 Greek oregano plants in pots
2 Greek oregano in hanging pots
And 10 medium sized pots with some thyme, fennel and tarragon. Lol, I'll probably get a hair and do some more when the mood strikes.

Behr, do you use all your herbs fresh, or do you dry/ save some? If so, how do you preserve them?

I've found that Sweet basil is the easiest of herbs to grow, Greek and Itailan would be next.

The basil does well in full sun, it'll grow fast and healthy. In part shade, it will grow, just at a slower rate and will be lighter in color and more delicate, but still fine for use. It adjusts well with overwatering and droughting. (Is droughting a word? Haha). The most important thing to remember is to use it. The leaves have to be picked to promote growth, not just more leaf growth. I know that sounds obvious, but most people don't realize how important it is.

Fwiw.

We sure learned the hard way about what happens when you let basil and other stuff bolt. Damn, they got nasty! (bitter, and just generally wrong-tasting)

I've heard of bolting but never had that problem.

I use all my stuff fresh. Sometimes if I'm not using basil as fast as its growing, I'll make some pesto and freeze it and sometimes I'll freeze some leaves, but usually don't need to. People really appreciate being given some fresh herbs too. Especially my Church peps.

I'm not real sure. I think she had bought seeds the last two years. The cilantro didn't come in very good last year for some reason, and she is gun shy about that, so that's the reason for all basil this year I guess.

Funny. I was going through my packages of seeds I bought last month to start my garden. Evidently I had planned to try growing cilantro again because I've got a new package of seeds. Lol.

It says on the package "An improved variety of cilantro that grows better even under warm conditions". That must have been the reason I grabbed them, I honestly don't remember

I'm gonna plant a few in a pot and the rest next to the cilantro plants in the garden. Nothing to lose but my patience.

My six mater plants have 36 blooms and one small marble sized mater. Woot.

The seeds I planted, sprouted last night and there are about 70-75. Way more than I need. Haha.

Parsley seeds also sprouted last night. Bunch!

So far so good. About to plant the damn cilantro and a few green onion. Forgot I had those too. They're a pain in the butt too, at least in my experience. I've always had luck with them sprouting, but never maturing.

Mail the extra to me! I can't wait to plant mine.

It was a Message from God, and you blew it off! :wink2:

In one of my more surreal teenage moments, I still remember sitting on a CIA airplane on a Tan Son Nhut taxiway, looking out the airplane window and watching an endless string of ARVN colonels loading crates of stuff into the cargo hold, doubtless assuring their financial futures as "refugees"...

Somewhere around 1970, as best as I can recall.
