The fact he was around the AD for the Kiffin & Raleigh hire is troubling. That was probably all Hamilton though since he knew it all & never listened to anybody! Hope it works out...

Why should we b happy? We had a chance to get tradition back, lady's name back, clean house, get a fresh start to wash away Hartless, n Cheeks .Bev blew the hire. now her job gets to be fun, think they are ready for the TN fans to be heard? No way do I want to wait 1 more season for results.I want to see how important fans, students, booster are to them .

I'm solidly behind our coaches, players, and our new AD at least until they prove they don't warrant my support. Very excited about the upcoming season.

Is hungry good or bad? I really wanted to click it, but didn't want to get labeled as anything other than actually being hungry.

With all due respect to your poll, I don't feel any of the choices you offered. I'm actually a little confused if not alarmed given some stories I've heard on the radio since the announcement. Someone or some group reporting this story is greatly mistaken about AD Currie, bad or good. I've heard anything from great hire, fantastic hire, to the worst candidate imaginable that Davenport could have chosen ON THE RADIO, not by listeners, but by at least one host. The bad is from a local radio host, Tony Basilio, who said he and someone involved in UT athletics were actually joking just recently about Currie possibly being a candidate. Now I know most have 0% respect for Basilio, but he sure is putting it out there loud and strong. I will say he seems to be in the smallest minority, AND I'M NOT VOUCHING FOR HIS STATEMENTS, so don't flame me please. Just trying to say how I feel right now. I personally hope Currie is the greatest AD in the history of UT athletics, sincerely. It seems to have even caught Jimmy Hyams off guard; he sounded very surprised when making the announcement around lunch time.

Who cares what my opinion is? I'm in no position to know who is the best available Athletic Director.

Does it matter that a good and decent man like Phil Fulmer doesn't like the guy at all? I don't know if it does or not. But that's what I'm hearing, and it's worrisome to me if it's true.

Why does Fulmer not like him?

It's a better business decision than Fulmer (no experience) or Blackburn (no P5 experience)

I question his ability to hire coaches. Lord knows he didn't learn anything here good and he hasn't done much at KState. Snyder told him he was coming back and he hired Webber off the scrap pile. Oh well, damn the torpedoes full speed ahead

And that in itself is the problem. Put successful teams on the field and the fans and money will come. A coach knows what to look for in other coaches, but where does someone taught how to administrate/manage in a classroom learn that? We have way too much fascination with the thought of teaching someone "how to" rather than actually learning "how to" by doing. You could have a PhD covering all the aspects of a bicycle and still be as inept as anyone else trying to learn how to ride.

A coach for coaches who delegates administrative matters makes far more sense than than a business guy at the top. That's been amply demonstrated with ADs like Neyland, Woodruff, and Dickey as opposed to ones like Hamilton and Hart.

I would have felt more comfortable with Blackburn but I'm relieved it's not Fulmer.

You and me both. I don't know David or his family, but we have some mutual friends. And I trust their knowledge of him. But I am also relieved this is finally over. I think everyone can agree with that.

Probably the best hire UT has made in years. Seriously, this guy gets it and understands what needs to be done.

The right hire at the right time. Proven track record and a TN grad that wants to be here! I'm excited!
