I guess the new lady up there doesn't give a **** what the fanbase wants. money talks and fans don't matter

That's pretty much every university in the country. If you believe otherwise then you aren't paying any attention.

Time will tell. I hope he does great! I guess the Johnny Majors Blue Bloods were never going to let them hire CPF, so they went with a proven P5 guy instead of DB. He could do a world of good by bringing in CPF as his assistant IMHO. Then, I'd feel really good about the hire.

I'm not going to hold him accountable for what Hamilton did at Tennessee. We've all discussed how Hamilton was just a puppet to the boosters. Also, how much control could he really have over his boss. In my opinion, he probably left for K State to get away from Hamilton and the eventual collapse he was leading the AD towards.

I've not seen anything about coaches hating him. It seems contrary since he helped measly K State raise millions of more dollars and upgrade their facilities across all sports.

Who has he hired?

Snyder was never getting fired and he would have been crucified had he done so

And for good reason. He did rehired him after he retired the first time.

If they didn't get him for the job he won't be an assistant

I was in the Blackburn camp but this looks like a solid hire. He worked here before, he has power five experience, he knows how crazy us vol fans can be. He raised a lot of money at Kansas St. They were fairly successful about as much as they could be. I have a feeling this could be a solid hire, or it could just be the moe's burrito I had for lunch.

Hamilton guy, way to go, I guess the new lady up there doesn't give a **** what the fanbase wants. money talks and fans don't matter....k friggin state, what the hell

In fairness, Blackburn is also a "Hamilton guy."

Doesn't mean I like the hire, just pointing that out.

This is the classic "compromise". You guys can't decide between Blackburn or Fulmer so we will just choose option C. Now no one will be happy.

I don't see this as a compromise, this guy has Tennessee roots like Blackburn and has managed a Power 5 school successfully. I think this is an upgrade from Blackburn.

Understand he made good financial decisions, and that definitely beats Hamilton.

Does anyone know if he made athletic hires while there and if they were good hires.. for Kansas State?

I don't expect to be blown away like he was making a hire at Florida or Alabama, but for Kansas state did he make good hires, if any?

This is a very good hire, he's been here before and has P5 experience. This is a step above Blackburn IMO due to experience alone. Great hire.

Could be. We'll see. When I think of Kansas State athletics the past couple of years, I'm not exactly shaking in my boots though. Their football coach is a 400 year old retread, and their basketball program was just defeated by our team.

Both. Everything during the Hamilton regime was a dumpster fire. Maybe this guy will be the person to drag Tennessee athletics kicking and screaming back to the national elite. Personally, I just hate the thought of anything involved with Hamilton.

Blackburn served under Hamilton.

I'm not saying it isn't a quality hire. I'm simply saying they couldn't decide between two candidates so they hired a third unknown or unwanted guy instead.

Compromise hire. Some UT power players wanted Blackburn, old school boosters wanted Fulmer and Chancellor Davenport wanted to go outside. It's not Bohn, so everybody had to give a little-- some much more than others.

She seems to be smart enough to not let the crazies on this board dictate how she should do her job.

Or she said screw you and did what she wanted anyway?

This hire is good, however it reeks of the "new boss" wanting to establish her dominance over the establishment in the ranks of the boosters.

I admit to not knowing much about the dealings of the business side of college athletics, but I fail to be inspired by the hiring of someone to the A.D. that was a subordinate during the fall of Tennessee athletics.

Blackburn was there during that time also.
