Seeing that this is a slow time of the year and most are a bit down about our men's and women's hoops teams, just wanted to pass along that the diamond Vols are off to a 6-1 start to the season. Looks like we have some legit arms and bats this year. Hopefully they'll make the post season this year. GBO

When there is an injury involved, as was the case with Johnson, there is a process they have to go through with applying for the medical redshirt. My guess is that they are going through that process and will update it when/if his redshirt is approved.

From the little that I understand about that process and what I remember reading about Johnson's situation last fall, I think it should eventually be approved.

I know he played in a game pretty late in the season so not sure how that affects his RS status

"Rivals.com has spent the last two weeks breaking down each position to see which school did the best on National Signing Day 2017.

Today, we take a look at the programs that finished the cycle with the best hauls at cornerback

TOP 10 CLASSES BY POSITION: QB | RB | WR | TE | OL | DT | DE | LB

7. TENNESSEE

Signees: Cheyenne Labruzza (three-star), Terrell Bailey (four-star), Shawn Shamburger (three-star)

Analysis: The Vols dipped into Louisiana to nab two of their three commitments at the position in Labruzza and Bailey. Early work by the Vols coaches paid dividends with both players, including four-star Bailey, who was overlooked by some programs around the Southeast. Labruzza has high upside and the Vols held off a late charge from LSU to keep him in the class. Meanwhile, Shamburger comes from Georgia powerhouse program Colquitt County and flew under the radar until Tennessee pushed for his commitment. The trio might not be flashy but the overall talent helps the Vols land on this list."

If that is the case, he would not be able to redshirt. At least not as I understand the rules.

I can't remember if he did or not, but the roster doesn't show any red shirt's from last year as far as I can tell. JG is shown as a true SO and we all know he would be a redshirt.

Game over man. Game over.

How about a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray?

I'm fine with Bubba. Ones making the decision couldn't fathom the potential peace of "get a Tennessee AD" silence tho. :pinch:

His UT bio shows him only in the V. Tech game. I don't remember him playing against T. Tech, but you aren't the first poster who's said that.

I only noticed him in for a couple of plays. Hopefully I'm wrong because I think it really helps us if he gets a RS.

The game participation report for the Va Tech game that I just looked at had him listed as playing. I suppose they could try to get a medical hardship waiver for him if he was injured after that but having just read the rules for that I'm not certain if he qualifies.

Taking vol out of it I'd have to say Cunninghams resume is easily better than Blackburn and Fulmer. It's really not even close. Apparently turned down Florida AD job before they hired Stricklin so that should help that rivalry lol

I would think it was not a total disaster, but I would still be disappointed.

I think a good portion of the fan base would be disappointed by anyone other than Blackburn. I would not be disappointed with the UNC guy, the Northwestern guy, the Oregon guy, or a few others.

I would however, be disappointed with the guy from Cincy or anyone that's never been an AD themselves, unless their name is Philip Fulmer or Charles Davis.

I would not be disappointed with Carolina Panthers guy either.
