We're pretty good on linemen, baring attrition of course. We'll probably take 3/4 on each side. DBs seem to be our biggest need. We'll probably take 5 or so again there. We also will need at least 2 TEs. And one spot will go to a punter this year.

When you think you're good on Lineman, you take more.

I think the Farragut punter gets the scholarship.

Probably impossible to lookup, but how many coaches found by a search firm have turned out to be good hires? Seems like every one I've heard of has turned out to be a bust.

I can remember a time when if we got a Parade all American and an honorable mention in the same year fans would be ecstatic.

SIAP

Saturday Down South article Made for NFL: Why do-it-all Vol Alvin Kamara is in the conversation to become first-round draft pick

Kamara relishes his time at Tennessee and was proud of the fact he was able to produce on the field while sharing touches in a talented backfield.

“I’m thankful for this past (2016) season,” he said. “I was able to showcase being a complete back and coach Jones always set things up to help the team and play to my strengths. To be in an organization that supports you and better your weaknesses.”

But...but...but... THE CULTURE! Haney says the culture is horrible!

I have a feeling that we will shortly hear that Thig is moving on, and will ultimately end up as the LB coach at UNC, when the 10th assistant coach position is added.

Staff takes 2 TE's next cycle IMO

I also think we will see the TE as a more featured role in this offense with Scott at OC

I agree. I predict Wolf will be highlighted more this season with potentially Pope or somebody else getting a shot. Butch ran this O with two TE's at times in Cincy when he had Kelce, even in a 4 wide look with the TE's split out in the slots.

People are undervaluing Scott at this stage. That will change.

They should scrap Heather too and start over. Dearstone was horrible though. I actually heard him say he didn't care if the football team won or lost he wasn't much of a fan! A lot of times when they could squeeze in a segment between 10 minute commercial breaks Mickey and Heather would ask a question neither knew the answer too and it would just be dead air for like 20 seconds. So bad.

Move Ainge up to the morning show. Even though Vince is better than anything they had him and Heather isn't a solution long term.

I like Heather. She's not the expert on all things but she's come a long ways since she first started. I can't stand Vince. I thought I read where he is a gator but I might be wrong.

I think we should take like 8-10 DL. Never can have too many.

I know it's overly simplistic, but I've never understood why, with 22 positions between offense and defense, you couldn't employ the model of taking one person to fill every spot slot each cycle (5 OL, 4 DL, etc..). You'd still have 3 spots open to fill positions that open up or to give to that rare specialist that warrants a scholarship (sorry, Volatil!).

Then, theoretically, barring horrifically bad luck (like we had last year) you'd always be between 2-4 deep at every position (2-3 deep at positions where you've had season-ending injuries or defections). It's always confused me how we get into a position where we need, for instance, 3 running backs in one class...seems that sort of scenario is going to strain other position groups at some point.
