Immigration Ban

The ethical rules governing the practice of law prohibit personal attacks on judiciary. I can criticize the opinion, but calling judge a piece of sh1t is way out of bounds.

I'd think you'd want to choose your critical words wisely if there was a chance you might ever be in his/her courtroom again.

Dang, I'd be a horrible lawyer then.

Of course, I have a soul and legs, so I'm automatically prohibited from going to law school.

Martha Raddatz was about to cry (again) on GMA this morning. Their coverage of terrorism is a joke. In Orlando the coverage was mostly about the mourning. Nothing about the motives or any discussion on the wife (who played big roles) or the families in either Orlando & san bernardino

What percentage of the people rioting / *****ing about this "immigration ban" have actually gone out of their way to help immigrants coming into this country?

{raises hand}

But what if I didn't? Would that make me wrong on the issue or are you just trying to distract from valid discussion?

Since when have lawyers cared for ethics?

I'd wager I have to abide by more ethical rules in carrying out my profession than you with yours. They are obligations I take seriously. Not sacrificing my livelihood to cut corners. I worked too hard to get where I am at.

The 9th Appeals Court is hearing oral arguments now.
DOJ says proceedings are moving too fast for them to have all evidence. Judge replies that it's DOJ that requested emergency hearing

Judge Friedland presses DOJ lawyers: are you arguing Pres Trump's power here is unrevieable by courts?

DOJ answer: yes

Judge questions DOJ on how some immigration *must* be reviewable by courts if a potential "Muslim ban" would be.

DOJ concedes yes.

Friedland: Any evidence of finding of terrorism from these 7 countries?

DOJ Answer: "these proceedings have been moving very fast."

9th Cir. argt. Ct: Why can't state sue on behalf of its citizens?

DOJ: long silence

The Establishment Clause makes an appearance.

Govt: No response on merits to Est Clause challenge.

trump's people sound like complete buffoons.
As a conservative, i'm totally ashamed that there were that many people who would support this goon.

Isn't this the court that has the highest SCOTUS reversals of their rulings?

You think that's trumps people arguing this case? Think in two weeks he's replaced all the lawyers within the DOJ?

I'm a military man, I doubt it.

You have quite a few as well, but don't discount mine too much. I am right there.

And thank you for your service. Things sometimes get a little testy around here, but I am grateful for the sacrifices made by members of the military.

"The travel part of Trump’s order does target the same seven countries that were singled out with a law Obama signed in December 2015.

The Obama-signed law contains provisions that restrict travel to the United States for people who lived in or visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria since March 2011. They must have a visa to enter the United States; they can’t use what is known as the Visa Waiver Program, which allows 90-day U.S. visits to other foreign visitors.

The law was soon expanded by Obama’s Department of Homeland Security to cover Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. They were identified in the agency’s announcement as "countries of concern," a phrase used in the law." - Politifact

I'm not sure that the states have standing to challenge this EO on behalf of their citizens.

That does seem to be a somewhat unusual argument. How can a person who is not a citizen of the US be a citizen of a state? Especially those that have not even arrived here yet.
