Behr I just disagreed with you in the FF in the 2012 thread just for fun.

Yep, I got hit with the delete hammer. I was a bad boy I guess 😬

Oh well. I just dropped one in the Rucker thread that could get interesting. Already have one good one lol, waiting for a few more before I respond.

"Mom, can you give me cooking lessons?"

Youngest daughter is staying with us for a few weeks while between apartments and sprang this on me.

I have no idea how to teach cooking. I just rummage around in the fridge and pantry, think of what might be good with what we've got, and commence to cooking. So I add shallots to something because I know how they taste; how they're similar and different from onions and garlic; there you are. I dial back something else because it's too dominant. And I don't use cilantro! :)

Behr, what would you do if someone who does ok with survival cooking, but not much more, asked you this? I don't know where to start.

Not an easy question to answer, especially on a message board and not having much to go on other than what you just said. I guess I would start by asking her why she wanted to learn, now. Dinner for a guy, for his parents.....Is she married? How old is she?

What would she like to learn first? What does she like to eat often?

The more I start typing, the more questions Id want to know.

Sorry this is so scattered, but I'm trying to type as fast as I'm thinking. Haha, that ain't happening.

Behr, I've been tasked to get paper plates and napkins for our Super Bowl party. We call it Super Church (long story). But it's pot luck, and I can't stand to not bring some food. What say ye for what to bring?

They will take a CT scan in 3-4 weeks to look at it again. When the chemo was halfway through they did one and it showed the mass had shrunk about 1/3 of it's size and there wasn't any spread of the cancer anywhere else in my body.

That's great news keep kicking its azz

Need more info. For instance,

How much trouble do you want to go to?
How much money do you want to spend?
Finger food?
An actual dish, crab salad, casserole......?
Will you have access to an oven. Reheat or to "finish"?

Buffalo popcorn, prosciutto Melone or Asparagus, skillet pizza or cheese bread, potato skins, olive and spinach tea sandwiches with sliced egg.......the options are endless. Sorry to make this difficult. :p

Sorry, Behr, as soon as I got ready to reply to you my wife had me rush out the door to meet a contractor we had coming to one of her houses. As for Super Church, I will answer q's in order. As for trouble, not a great deal. As for spending, doesn't matter much. Finger food?? yes, please. Actual dish, probably not - I think parties are best with finger food that isn't messy or sticky and can be eaten in one or two bites. I don't believe there is an oven in the party room at this apartment complex. I will have to prepare anything hot while I'm at home, but if necessary, could go to his apartment to reheat or cook and finish. You aren't making things difficult. In fact, I appreciate the time and patience it takes you to school a dummy like me through this :)

BTW, chili is out = we have a guy that always brings that. I tried it once and detected cinnamon and brown sugar in it. *series of expletives* Pulled pork is also spoken for.
