Why is he still trying to sell us on this crap. He's went from brick by brick, own it, to being champions of life. It's put up or shut up time Mr. Jones, quit trying to give excuses and win.

Finishing mid pack in the SEC in recruiting.

The coaches have to talk up their classes to an extent, I get that.

Seeing what Florida and GA managed to do compared to the haul Jones and company brought in isn't going to make winning the East any easier.

Jones and his staff can put all the spin they want on this class, but there aren't many guys that will help in the short term and there hasn't been much to indicate they are capable of developing for the long term either.

I agree with his statement. Its kinda like golf, drive for show, putt for dough. A lot of 5* players are spoiled brats and , as we have seen, can be very disruptive in the locker room. Kamara got his thing together, but nor where he first signed. I think Richmond and Smith are the type of 5*s we need. We will do very well with our recruits which will fill the holes which became evident over the 2016 season and those who graduated or left early, for what ever reason. We will have an 8-10 win season in 2017 and will be ready to rock and roll with an experienced QB for the next 3-4 years. Posters should jump on the train or keep bashing players they have never seen play.

I don't think it has nearly as much to do with him trying to be professional as it is trying to control the narrative.

Recent history tells me when these type comments come up its when he is being pressed or questioned about something not panning out (SC, East, Vandy, now recruiting).

His exact words are not nearly as relevant to me as much as the reason and why he feels the need.

He's doing his best to sell it. In year 1 and 2, he had more buyers.

You submit yourself to it blindly defending this crap. I get it, go vols, you are gonna defend the coach no matter what. You dont think it matters at all, great. Nearly everyone in the country disagrees with you because our coach is a constant laughing stock using his own qoutes. His constantly overselling his accomplishments should be concerning. He is overcompensating because he cant get it done where it counts, on the field.
