Just saw trey Smith interview for the first time on ESPN with Joe Tess. Holy smoke that kid behaves and talks and looks like he's 30. I don't think I've ever seen a more polished and mature sounding HS recruit. Kid could end up being a great rep for UT.

6'6 316lbs....also looks 30. Happy to have this kid anchoring the blindside for years to come.

RB? Gray at DB or LB? I'd say those are four elite players and then we have some really good players who could become elite. Then some guys with potential but aren't there yet. And then some guys I scratch my head about.

Phillips, Taylor and Kongbo will be good. Hopefully that elite pass rusher will come in 2018. I don't know if Emerson's future at end, but he is ranked as an elite DE

Way I see it is if we don't get to ATL in '18 then sure cut the cord on Butch.

I don't see how you can defend not making it to Atlanta by year 5 barring another season of catestrophic injuries. We have talent on the roster

Several of them asking about all the new Chargers they've seen on the Bama campus. Lol, had to think of you.

Doubt we go 11-1. We lost to awful teams this year and even with injuries we were more talented that Vandy and South Carolina. 7-5 is my prediction.

It's just been frustrating. I have a friend who is a die hard Bama fan and he constantly brags about their recruiting. Then I watch ESPN and they're calling this years class the greatest of the modern era. Seeing all that and then knowing about that USC thread with all these players and their brand new cars that we all know they can't afford. It's frustrating. If we are cheating, we need to be better at it

As frustrating as it is not to sign a great class, we can still win. We have elite offensive line talent on this roster. We have elite running backs on this roster. We also have elite QBs, at least from their recruiting rankings, on this roster. I think we have elite DL talent as well. That's enough to win a lot of games.m especially if Butch upgrades the staff. I expect to win 10-11 games this fall if JG is legit or if Dormady is good enough to start. We do that, momentum will be going forward again. There is a lot of talent on this roster.

I think we had to settle for players more so than in other years, but there are some good ones in there. We are also getting a new AD who won't be giving Butch a long leash.

We have had coaching changes .. We'll just have to see if this season is going to be closer to the year after Peyton or the year Fulmer got fired.

I think Warren and Hoke can be a big help. Rock also. Wish we could upgrade at LB coach as well.

I've never understood this argument. Talent isn't everything.

Sure, we had more overall talent than Vandy or SC. Agreed. But what happens when your experienced talent gets hurt and you follow up with inexperienced freshman talent? There is bound to be hiccups.

Perfect example was Warrior. Everyone here can agree that Warrior is going to be a stud. He is uber talented. But guess what, that talent failed at the end of the SC game and it was because he was lacking in experience. He blew an assignment and SC scored a TD and we lose by a field goal.

This isn't to bash Warrior, he is going to be great. But there is a learning curve when you step up to the SEC. Just because we were overall more talented than those two teams doesn't mean we are going to or should win. Still need experience. And even then, its the SEC, its going to be a dogfight.

Doesn't matter you don't lose to those teams. We were the better team. I blame coaching more than anything. Nebraska was way better than both of those teams and we handled them we played better against A&M with injuries and if not for crazy fumbles we would have crushed them. You don't lose to Vandy bottom line.

Edit: defense against A&M was atrocious but we still should have won. Vandy is complete garbage and they may very well beat us next year.

New QB, #1 WR, #1 RB, #1 DE, #1 CB. 17 is a rebuilding year. Would have made it to ATL this year but **** happened. That's why I give him until 18.
