I was skeptical of Coach Barnes coming into this season, but we need to sign him to a contract keeping him until he wants to retire.

No doubt lock him up for the rest of his career.

They have been fun. Barnes is doing better than I thought he would. If they sustain this effort they've had the last few games they'll make the tournament for sure.

Honest question. Is Grant Williams the Freshman of the Year in the SEC? Or are you not allowed to win that unless you are a merc from Kentucky?

This lad is elite, but rest assured the powers that be have been grooming Malik Monk from Kentucky for this honor.

Disappointing but some nice pieces. I blame:

1) no nfl draftees for last two years
2) high volume of injuries this year
3) failing to meet high onfield expectations
4) a staff that only had a few elite recruiters
5) Butch on the hotseat talk
6) filling up the class too fast out of fear we will miss out on big fish late

Not sure how to weight those. 5 is probably 1a and 3 is probably 1b. Fulmer and Dooley proved Tennessee is a hard place to recruit when folks think you'll be fired. The others play a role ( some making it easier to negative recruit us).

Butch recruits his heart out. I don't think this is a lack of effort. Oh well. 2017 is his make or break year. We have enough talent to make a run.

Not much left, but if he can stabilize us where we could expect to go to the tourney (even as a low seed) every year and then retire, he would be the best thing that could've happened to UT basketball. We were spiraling down when he showed up

Can't go 8-4 the way we did and expect better classes unless it's the coach's first year. In year 4 the on field performance we had will hurt recruiting. Need 10 wins next year to right the ship.
