Go ahead expand my mind on how the job he took is entry level and comparable to that of quality control or grad assistant at UT.

P.S. - I am fully aware he isn't the WR coach.

exactly.. so he needs to get experience coaching in the NFL first before he comes back and takes a job at UT I guess is what Bruin is saying....

He needs an entry level coaching job before he is in charge of a unit solely himself at the SEC level. That's exactly the kind of job he has taken.

He wasn't interviewing for a job being in charge of a unit solely himself at UT, it was quality control....

Yes I know that as he would have been a great QC but many posters here wanted him replacing cza from the start. My post were about him not being qualified for that.

So, Rivals has us at 11, Scout has us at 11, and 247 has us at 14.... I am a little surprised at how well Auburn and TXAM are doing, especially Auburn... guess the money is still flowing.... So for those who are keeping up on a detailed level, where are the big fish that are left looking at going to, and will this push us back even further? I know we aren't getting any big fish, heck, we are apparently happy with 3* minnows, but curious if the remaining highly ranked kids will just top load the already top 1-8, or will there be any surprises? Hopefully a handful of our 3* are Suttons in disguise and will develop quickly into monsters....

I guess I would have to agree with you there, he would have been perfect to carry the title of QC and help with WR and recruiting until he got his feet wet with day to day coaching... Heck it would have been great to have him here a couple of years in that role and then cut him loose at coaching WR's.... he would have been great.

We are on the same page.

Bama is "predicted" to land 5 more top 150 players. That might keep a few teams from jumping us.

There are a few teams with really small numbers that could jump us just by adding a couple 3 stars, but who knows what their numbers look like.

What is weird to me is the perceived difference in finishing say 18th vs 11th or so. It's not a huge difference at all. Recruiting in the teens yearly isn't gonna cut it in this league but the perceived difference of finishing closer to 20th vs 11th is much greater than it actually is.

I think it really depends on each class.

If you look at last year's classes I think there were some classes in the low teens that were much better than the ones that finished 18-20.

This year there will be classes ahead of Clemson and Stanford that neither team would think about trading for.

It does depend on the year. And some years the log jam of teams that are closely rated have a different range.

It's just so close sometimes that a single player can jump you several spots which means that the class was very close to being rated higher.

But reality is that this class isn't great and it isn't terrible no matter what happens tomorrow. Whether we get Ray (unlikely) or not, we need this class to turn out to be evaluated well.

This. For example, if we land Ray, it is likely we stay in the top 15. Otherwise, the current class would have us around 20-21 in 2015 and 2016.
