We got some spoiled fans man. We have been garbage for years now and ppl on here think we are supposed to have #1 classes with five 5 stars in it? Lol

We were excited about the top classes.CBJ brought in. He coached them avg and had avg record.

Other schools negative cruit and elite cruits want to play for any kind of championship.....not a music city bowl. If CBJ won the East once or.twice and made it to a NY6 or better maybe just once.....I believe we would have more elite talent on the commit list.

It's ok to have a higher standard for a program like UT. Don't kid yourself.
Their are programs in last 20 yrs that came.out the bottom once a good coach showed up and started cruiting elite talent and winning. And when I say winning I mean above 8-4

Lol. It would mean more if you told me how it's figured and what the hell it is. You might want to look closer as well since the the only numbers I see on their ratings that is close to your post is 89 And not .89. Which further proves my point what on earth do those numbers mean......

Star average is only stat worth knowing imo.

89 is the percentage and .89 is the decimal. It's a more precise rating of each player. For instance, 3 stars can range from the low .8s to the high .8s. To take only the number of stars, you're saying all 3 stars are equal, when clearly there is a big variation in their evaluations.

Thanks now we are getting somewhere. Seems like a better way of doing it would be for a high 3star to be a 3.8 instead of a .8

To me, offers and film means more than ratings. But looking at their percentage makes more sense than looking at stars IMO. Someone is 100%, they can't be a better prospect. There are 5 stars that drop to 98%. Not big, but it makes a difference. 4 stars can be in the high 80s up to 98%. And so on.

Makes some sense. I like the rankings by offers website that is out there especially for early in the process but as we get closer to NSD many of those offers are no longer worth mentioning.

Lots of the "offers" are worthless. If the kid can't commit to any of those top caliber school offers then imo it's meaningless.

"He's got offers from 7 SEC schools but we're the only one offering a committable offer today, he's obviously a stud".

As the number approaches 1.00 or 100 (believe it is interchangeable) it indicates a consensus #1 overall recruit. So there isn't really anyway to convert that to anything meaningful, but you can compare the numbers and their averages against each other.

ed; Just noticed you have already been answered:pinch:

Let's talk about underrated players. Would everyone agree with me that Butler, Murphy, Page and Labruzza are underrated at least? Any other names you would add to that list?

Also think we have some high potential guys such as Calbert and Palmer, Reid also when they put some weight on him. Maybe a few others as well like the Shamburglar

I saw where Callahan put in a crystal ball for the wide receiver Payton to go to Ole Miss. Looks like the VOLS are out of it for him, but that probably bodes well for Murphy.

Butler, Labruzza and Murphy are four stars on at least on of the 4 main sites so technically only underrated to those who refuse to take into account that each site exist for a reason and that is that any number of evaluators will have a different opinion of a player.

13 of our 28 commits are a 4 star or above on at least one of ESPN, Scout, Rivals or 247.

The guys that are not:
McBride - interesting offer list of QB gurus like Norvell and Chad Morris also had Baylor making late run at him

Johnson - took from Miss St

Calbert - underrated due to two years of knee injuries. South Carolina and Florida both offered and pushed hard for him. 247 thinks he has first rd potential down road

Bembry - believe he was a four star on one site until his injury this year. Florida and UGA were also recruiting before injury

Theo Jackson - beat out LSU

Page - win player of year and had SEC teams coming in late in process including UGA but he refused to consider

Palmer - chose TN over UCLA. Urban Meyer had just visited the week before his commitment and setup visit with him.

Thaxton - chose us over Vandy, Ole Miss and Nc St. Couple strong defensive talent evaluators there

Fant - was a four star before cutting season short again for surgery. Had nice offers from Lsu, Louisville, Miami and Ole Miss before the TN commit.

Coleman - is a question mark but Jr tape was impressive to me

Jones - didn't like his Jr stuff but his Sr highlights look very good and prob why Charlie strong and Scott Frost making late pitch to him..

Shamburger - has UGA and possibly Bama targeting him late

Jordan - over UNC

Kicker - is a kicker so who cares

Brown - don't really know with the position change. Looks talented

So I really don't get the Dooley esque garbage spewed by some. That is lazy talk without looking at the details. dooleybwas taking kids from Austin Peay or some crap. We are taking kids with some solid power 5 offers. Is it elite like UGA? No but it's better than people want to admit

Negative people gonna be negative.

The funny part is that if we kept Hunter Johnson and Tee Higgins, and landed Gibbs, the class rating would likely be top 10, but would those three players really have made that much difference overall? I'm guessing not so much, and certainly not enough to justify the swing in class confidence some have experienced. The LOTM would have been less so, but I doubt it would have changed much on the field.

Since only one QB will play Hunter was not a big hit. Higgins could help immediately. Hate to say it but we still aren't getting the value out of receivers. We have gone from poor to ok. CAZ is not getting it done. Our catch rate has been and is still low. And don't blame Dobbs. I am only talking about catchable balls. The ones where the receivers get two good hands on it. We have a couple of studs that go get it pretty well. The others are waiting on the ball and distracted by the slightest bump, noise etc. When we were WRU we owned the 50/50 ball. Where is Kippy?

You say this every time and it's worthless every time.
You have zero idea on which offers are valid but yet always use the example of none but ours.
Pure made-up bs.

Does it not also matter that those offers were at some point commitable? When citing offers in an argument of a recruits worth are we not proving said worth by saying that "these schools thought he was good enough to offer"...whether he could commit to them now is a by product of classes filling up not a byproduct of the recruit suddenly not being worthy of the offer
