Hurd quitting the team still pisses me off, but listening to Super Bowl talk got me to thinking. The Atlanta Falcons would have been a perfect team/situation for Hurd to play in. They are basically running an old school I Formation and still use a Fullback. Taylor made for Hurd and his running style IMO.

Just a thought I had, but to be honest, nothing I really care too much about. Should have just finished the season son. NFL scouts don't give too much of a sh** what kind of playbook a RB is playing out of in college. They have a pretty good idea what you should be able to do in the NFL. QB position is a lot different thing to deal with. RB is pretty straight forward in what they are looking for on any given team.

Again, I got it your point. It's a flawed generalization that I don't put much stock in. Therefore, I didn't comment on that specific part. Sorry.

And if I wanted to argue, I wouldn't have stated at the outset that I agreed with your point on the OL, nor would I have left it as "differing opinions."

It's not flawed that it is easier to project skill players than linemen.

I am by no means a stargazer, I think we have a lot of solid 3* and under the radar guys, but I saw this stat today and it blew my mind. According to the 247 composite rankings Alabama and Georgia have 20 4* and 5* commits a piece for the 2017 class. LSU has 12 and Auburn has 10.

Tennessee has 5...

We had 10 in 2016 and 16 in 2015 and 2014. We had 4 in 2013.

Yea, classes like this can be coach killers. They need to get lucky on a lot of these guys. Plus, they'll have to outcoach all of these opponents because of the talent disparity. That's not something this staff has been very successful at doing.

Whats up guys?

Any surprises on Signing Day?

Seriously have no time to look back. Putting in about 90 hrs a week with work, clinicals, and paperwork for clinical. Lucky for me school starts this week too so I'm screwed. 10 months and I'm done!!!

Surprises? Nah not really. We get 0-2 more guys who have a good shot with and call it a class

It's called reverse recruitment. All failing programs are doing it. Nothing to see here (pun intended)

I think Hurd would make a great full back. :)

Yeah, but we have almost as many 3*s as Bama , Ga, LSU and Auburn combined...:eek:hmy:

This is the least excited I've been for recruiting since butch has been here...

Which means he has recruited really well, considering where we were when he got here.

I said a couple of days ago that I don't see why you can't pick and choose recruiting grades for players. If one service has a player a 4 star, then he is projected as a contributor. We probably have at least 11 players that are four stars by one of the services. I just don't think it's as bad as others are saying. That said, I don't disagree that it's not as good as we have done. We couldn't overcome losing the instate talent.

Yeah, but ATL has arguably the best 1-2 punch at RB right now in Freeman & Coleman. Don't know how needy they are for another RB.

Our recruiting now is down, but it's not as bad as the composite makes it seem. We have around 10 4* on rivals, and I think somewhere between 10-15 of our recruits are 4* on at least one service.

This is the definition of a wait and see class. We have some studs and lots of players with potential. Like JacketVol has been saying, I would rather take 4 and 5* lineman and fill the class with 3* skill players around then than the opposite.
