Speaks volumes that CBJ would promote from within a guy who will be learning on the job as our OC in what could be a tipping point year for CBJ.

All it says is that Butch is running his offense, the same as he was with debord. The only thing that may change is play calling that is either proactive or reactive, since debord apparently wanted to be somewhat vanilla and stick to a script.

Thanks. That is promising, but other then Rivers I cannot track down 5 AA QBs either. It said at Arizona he coached the QB up to honorable mention AA. I could see the USF QB being an AA since he is the Big East career total yards leader. I do not see anybody at NT being an AA QB.

Maybe they meant to say "All-Conference" instead of "All-American"? I could see that. Definitely not the same, but still pretty impressive.

2008 offseason fulmer hires clawson:

Vol nation rejoiced with fulmer going against the grain and adapting to spread to combat the evil gator empire that used same system.

2008 season happens.....

Vol nation laments why phil changed what wasn't broken and blames this hire for his termination.

2012 offseason dooley hires sunseri:

Vol nation rejoices that we broke the usual and adapted to what bama is doing with a 3-4 scheme.

2012 season happens....

Vol nation laments what was both record breaking for both offense and defense and blames dooley for changing what wasn't broken and ultimately cost him his job. volnation nevertheless rejoices that this fateful decision allowed us to finally get rid of dooley.

2017 offseason:

Butch hires coaches that don't change what's not broken in what can be a deciding season for his career. Players have been recruited for this exact scheme.

Vol nation doesn't remember history and *****es and moans again.

Yep. Don't need a full language and schematic change. Just someone that can provide a needed change up from time to time.

I enjoyed watching this video. He seems to be a very energetic guy and a good motivator, probably someone he players will enjoy playing for. Might do better in the living room than I have given him credit for. But can he really develop QBs? Can he take JG and turn him into a first round draft pick which has been said to be his potential? That's the question

Im in the Legion not friggin worried about something that isnt broken in the first place and can only improve...will that suffice?

Who's worried about it? What will be will be.

But losing most of the main players in an offense that worked well doesn't mean that the next generation will automatically work. Tennessee essentially ran the scheme that Al Saunders implemented in the 80s for nearly 20 years. With some OCs and offensive players, like Cut and Peyton, it worked great. With Sanders and Rick Clausen, it sucked. Success isn't guaranteed just because the scheme is the same.

DId Brice actually say he'd rather Sheridan had stayed instead of Canales? It was mentioned in another thread

Yes a while back he did. He thinks Sheridan has more potential and under appreciated like Debord. They are both meh to me. I'd rather have just kept Debord around

Great analogy....so in other words when they players were crappy they just needed another scheme and the team would have been good? Interesting. Our offensive scheme is good. And I think we have lots of offensive talent that fits our scheme. Potentially, a QB that fits great even.

Thanks for posting that. Feel better about the hire just from his energy at that practice.
