Nice offer list. Alabama, Michigan, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Vatech, UVA.

I've also heard he's incredibly smart. He had interest from both Harvard and Yale.

Whether I disagree or not, I can't help but laugh at the sarcastic remarks.

The dude had offers from Alabama and Michigan. Butch has shown an incredible ability to evaluate talent so far. It's hard to imagine a life where it's worthwhile to get on here and complain about a kid wanting to come to Tennessee. Some of you guys remind me of Kiffin telling Taj Boyd he was no longer wanted here. :pilot:

Solidifying the bottom of the recruiting class is important. We have turned into an art over the last several months...We are the champions.

So a top 15 class is acceptable? Well, I guess it is at Vandy or USc, but its not here. Also, if you really want to get down to brass tax, the only reason its top 15 is quantity not quality of commits. Rankings mean nothing though right?

What's this brass tax you speak of? A new tax on brass? I was thinking about selling my stockpiles of brass but if there's a new tax on it a may hold off a while.

Ryan "The Taxman" Thaxton

Appears in the opposing quarterback's backfield out of nowhere like an audit from the IRS coming to tax the quarterback with sacks.

Or Ryan "Sackston" Thaxton!

Either way, welcome sir!

Pay no mind to the critics. Plenty of us are excited to see you suit up in Big Orange and help us win a championship!

Welcome!

To those of you talking smack on this man's recruiting page where he's likely to see it...Shame on you! Learn how to encourage the players and be a voice of positive support. All this bickering like a bunch of scorned old jilted Miss Havishams in the country dipping snuff and moaning put-downs about anyone to anyone who will listen, soon to be no one.

6 foot 5 inches? Is this supposed to be in the basketball forum instead?

Plenty of time for him to get with Coach Rock on some compound lifts supplemented with plenty of protein calories.

As Iam4UTalways would say, "Release The Beast!"

Will be nice to see a bunch of passes batted down at the los.

Agree but we are expecting a top SEC team on the field yet we are stocking 2nd tier talent for the most part. 2017 will be an example of that. Not sure how 2018 will stack at this point. We wasted the talent on 2016's team losing to two teams we should have blown out, but didn't.

A lot of top 2017 recruits had already counted us out by the SCAR and Vandy games. 2015 was the year to impress these kids with on the field improvement. Our 2015 losses to OU and Bama did much more to hurt our 2017 class than any 2016 loss.

Why do I feel like Butch thinks he's the smartest guy in the room when it comes to recruiting? Like he knows something no one else does? Geesh. Nothing against Ryan, but with this talent, we may be able to compete for MAC championships or life championships.

Well, the bit** fest is out in force. I do agree there is some merit to being concerned about stars. Why is Georgia doing so remarkably well? Is it just the state in which they are located? Why is Florida not? Check out Florida's running back crop. Some of this is staff evaluations and fit as well. Thus, a three star makes more sense to them than us laymen. I'm particularly concerned about WR.

UGA is doing so well because a new head coach sells the kids on turning the program around and playing time since they are that coach's recruits. What is happening for Smart year 2 is the exact same thing that happened for Butch year 2. The only way to keep bringing in top classes is to have statement wins that show progress. Butch missed this opportunity in 2015 and will probably not get another shot at it.

The contract extension after 2015 showed the entire athletic department didn't understand this. But it is better than the Dooley/Kiffin years

Butch has to sign someone. He doesn't think he's the smartest recruiter around, he just knows that the top talent has said "thanks but no thanks". We don't want another Dooley situation where he only targets a few top players at a position and signs no one when they turn him down.

I agree he needs to sign someone. But if you look at our talent pool, lack of player development in the past 2 years and his reluctance to trade in his buddies for better position coaches, 2017-2019 could be very ugly. Getting Trey Smith was huge but so was Richmond and look at how bad his development has been.

MAC/Conf USA coach.... you get what you pay for, and that is what we are seeing... I've said it all along... He is happy with 3* because that was a win at Cincy and Central Michigan... I said recruiting was taking a nosedive and that is exactly what is happening. He has nothing left to "sell" and no one is buying his coach-speak anymore... he will leave after this season with our roster stocked with 3* talent and the next guy will have to come in and slowly upgrade again... 7-5 here we come or bust! We. Are. 3*. U.

No wonder we can't get any 4 or 5 star players to come here, just read the posts on every recruit we do get to sign and 1 out of 4 posts are someone complaining. Negative attitudes
lead to negative environments. Some of you people must live a horrible life.

Don't know which is worse: snotty posts when a player commits or snotty posts when he leaves.

Welcome aboard Ryan; thanks for taking the Vol challenge!
