When the current class ranking in the four services range from#8 to #11, the recruiting class is not going poorly. try something else to bash the program and coaches. This one failed.
We are ranked that high on sheer numbers alone
We are 5th in the SEC on rivals and scout, 6th on 247 Thats the teams we have to compete with for the SEC title.
We are 28th by average star rating at 3.23. Thats 8th in the SEC. Miss State is 27th and Northwestern is 29th
There are a lot of teams directly behind us in the rankings with room to take several more players. UT will probably make a few more swaps but I think this class finishes somewhere between 12-15.
FYI this is pure speculation. I would bet that the reason for delay is because of Trey Smith and the Early Enrollees. Once they have signed the papers, then the staff changes will take place (ie., once classes start back they can sign). It seems too risky to make any changes before that. If you are sitting on one of, if not the best player in the country and he is committed to you offensive scheme, do you risk changing it up a couple weeks before he signs his papers? I also think this is why Butch said that he is not overhauling the system/changing it completely, he is only enhancing it. Do you scare a kid off who may be the best player in the country? No. Once the papers are signed, you can do whatever you want. He is far too big of a name to risk scaring him off by your hire.
He was 8-4 in games that mattered, 4-4 in conference and tied for 4th. This, after being picked to win the east and pre-season Top 10. So, stop with the 9 wins non-sense.
Tsk tsk...
Well then...who out there in available football head coach land do you know who's gonna do better?
Especially, given the circumstances of the prima donna whose name won't be mentioned quitting in the middle of the SC game thus blowing up the bench, the huddle, the locker room...and an unmatched plethora of injuries...the frickin wheels came off.
Who, really-serious question, who in your estimation could have held the team together and won out?
So two who and why questions.
1. Who is available that certifiably can do better?
2. Who could have won out from the SC game on?
