Sounds like something that could be easily regulated.
Aaahhhhhn...regulation. that and spending are the liberals answer to everything. Been working great up til now...except for the 20 trillion dollars debt, mass exodus of businesses, and rapid decline in the morals and decency of citizens in general. Liberal policy is great!

Conservatives longing for the good old days claiming the decline in morals and decency. Ignoring lower violent crime, lower incidents of rape, lower teen pregnancies etc. What metric are you relying upon?
Premiums have been going up for 30 years. The changes needed to get things under control go a lot further than Obamacare and our nation is not willing to do what needs to be done. We will continue to have a system where billions of dollars are siphoned off by health insurance and pharmaceutical companies for treatments and drugs that add nothing to a person's quality of life. We pay more for less than any 1st world country in the world. Obama was trying to take the first steps necessary, just as Clinton tried to do in the 90's, to address the issue. There are obviously to many rich and powerful lobbyist to see any real change. The public being ignorant doesn't help.
I don't know if they were words of reason.

Get rid of 2.5% Obama. tax is a great start
Good point. The GOP has had 7 years to come up with alternatives to Obamacare. So far they have come up with "selling across state lines" , to allow more competition between carriers. Well, there are so few carriers left due to mergers/acquisitions I don't think that will help. Plus, the state insurance commissioners will probably veto giving up their power. And also "high risk pools" is the other alternative. Those have been tried since the 70's and most have failed. Those are the basic major alternatives the GOP is offering.
Expect the ACA may be repealed, but the GOP is already backing off because they ain't got a damn thing to replace it with. And 20 million people currently on Obamacare are a lot of voters. Not to mention, cutting medicare and medicaid and SS?

I will be curious to see if the Republicans can rid themselves of the healthcare lobby. Between health insurance and pharmaceutical companies there are billions of dollars at stake for them.
I had to find a new doctor this year because my independent doc for the last 10+ years closed up and went to work for a corporation. The doctors I called would only accept me if I had company paid for insurance, not an ACA policy. That told me something.
Healthcare in our country is a complicated issue contrary to what many on here think. And I'm also thinking that those on here couldn't define the differences between deductibles/coinsurance/copays/OOP maximums etc. Just the usual back and forth bashing without having any worthwhile comments on where we go from here.
It would be nice if both parties would act like adults, sit at a table, and hammer out a compromise. There are many parts of the ACA that are popular - staying on your parents coverage until your 26, can't be denied coverage if you have a pre-existing condition, etc. - for once, they should not be hyper-partisan hacks and get something done regardless of party affiliation. I'm not holding my breath.
