Is the whole issue with Blackburn because he was here when the Title IX stuff allegedly took place? Other than that he is a no brainer.

Insider in RF says this is because of Davenport. She doesn't want a Tennessee person in the AD position. I felt in my stomach, she was probably the reason for all the delays. And the longer this drags on, my hope for leadership at UT continues to fade.

I am not an insider but let's put some perspective on this; if Blackburn is a done deal it IS better to slow play his hiring. Why, because the elites can milk more money out of the wanna bees for more athletic projects. How do you think we have been getting all this extra money for building projects and salaries!? This makes no sense to the common fan but this is great business sense!

We need to go all in together and get a lottery ticket. Maybe we will win and first action is to fire every single person that makes of Board of trustees and administration. Freak, LWS, Deerpark and others will form the new BOT and make some good decisions around here.

I'm twice as sure there's way more imbeciles that can cause extreme disruption. Unfortunately, I would not be the least bit shocked at a Hamilton part 2

He correctly said there's no way an outsider just beginning the job, who has no idea about the lay of the land, should have anything to do with this hire. Said she has no historical information and knowledge and that the "powers that be" should let her "rubber stamp" the hire for appearances but should ultimately be told who the new AD will be. And he's right.

By whom? Joe DiPietro is the invisible man. He's brought all the leadership of a potted ficus tree to the president's office. You want to let the boosters just hire the AD directly themselves?

If there's one thing I've learned from following almost 30 years of University of Tennessee politics, it's that the UTK campus needs a strong and independent chancellor to thrive. I don't know anything about this woman but her apparent unwillingness to just rubber stamp some hire she had no part in making is a great sign for those of us who care about the Knoxville campus.

So we have David Blackburn who is a UT guy, who seems to love UT and wants the AD job at UT. Yet he is not hired? This has all the makings of a total ****up written all over it. I should be surprised, but sadly, I am not.

They hired Bama Dave. He messed alot of stuff up. You hire a Alabama guy and he comes to Tennessee and gets rid of the Lady Vols logo (except basketball) Hire a Tennessee guy ( Dave Blackburn) who knows Tennessee Vols athletic dept. Its not rocket science, guys in charge.

Witch Doctor say Hart should have fired every other woman in the AD dept and the guy coming in(no matter who) is going to have to deal with that bunch of traitors and our idiot fan base. Maybe someone who knows this WONT come...maybe Blackburn is too smart? lets hope not...

Let's see...We know Blackburn's resume, we know Gilbert's resume and then we have Mike Bohn who is currently the AD at, wait for it...Cincinnati. Yes, where the new Chancellor is from. Bohn also worked at Colorado where he tried to hire Butch Jones and was ultimately fired.

Then there is Whit Babcock who is currently at Va.Tech after being Jones' boss at wait for it...Cincinnati... and has ties going back to Jones' time at WVU. He hired Tuberville to replace Jones and hired Mick Cronin.

Greg Byrne is currently at Arizona and he recently turned down the chance to be AD at Florida. He was also the AD at Mississippi State where he hired Mullens and Cohen (Baseball). He hired Rodriguez at Arizona and has kept Sean Miller (Basketball) despite the many suitors year after year.
Byrne is really the only "outside" candidate.

If it is a strike against Blackburn that he is a Tennessee "guy", which seems silly to me, then the best guy for the job is Byrne...hands down. Whether he would leave Arizona is another matter.

Maybe there are other candidates, no way to know.
