Wish Debord the best. But the narrative that he was good because the total offensive scoring was good is just not true. In 7 of the first 8 games the total points scored in the first half was 48 - that's less than 7 points per half. That's putting way too much pressure on the D as well as the O to come back in the second half. They had 24 in the other one against Va Tech when the Hokies were turning it over like crazy. They simply went against bad defenses in the final 4 games to make it look better than it was. I was impressed with his scheme and play calling against Nebraska - but they were not all that much on D either.

Based on Butch being Butch the common denominator on potential OC's is being from Michigan and CMU, which is Matt LaFleur. They were on staff together at CMU in 2004.

Is Helfrich a real possibility or are we setting ourselves up for hope and then he just makes Azzani OC? I am concerned because Butch still sounds like he will micromanage.

Then he will be gone soon. Dabo had the same problem and then woke up. He hired top flight assistants and let them do their job.

The stats where the Vols were 46th in defensive efficiency (FEI)? Or the stats where the defense gave up more than 5 yards per play and were almost the worst in the entire country on fourth down (CFB stats)? Or the part where Jancek's incredible defensive playcalling allowed the Vols to cough up not one, not two, but three late game leads against quality opponents?

If Butch has to have his fingerprint on the offense, he has no out if the offense doesn't perform. Just hire a proven guy and let him go!

He supported the players boycott, due to the suspension, from what ESPN news just said.

If so, that's completely unprofessional and sets the wrong standard for young men. You can support your player without it becoming an affront to the investigation and legal system, not to mention the victim (alleged victim).
