I think it's fair to point how he did what he did at Vandy (ducked any big non conference game while taking advantage of a down division).

That doesn't make him less of a coach, it's pretty much how you have to pull a school like Vandy out of the ditch. He did it and turned it into the opportunity he has at PSU now. I will definitely say he took away a lot of the doubts I had about him. There's still some, but not many and almost none on the field.

"Our coach" is Butch, right? That's what I quoted.

I don't think Butch will turn the corner, which is what the original post insinuated.

That's my fault, the quote didn't show when I originally read where you said he made Vandy relevant. I thought that was your initial post. I'll edit my response.

A lot of people from various fan bases and media outlets thought Franklin was a dead man walking this time last year after his second 7 win season in a row. He had NFL prospects like Hackenberg and that he couldn't get out of his own way with his offensive scheme. Then his DC jumped ship and people thought that was indicative of a coming implosion.


But he made some staff adjustments and here they are now.


Some very poignant parallels there (though i am ignoring the sanctions Franklin has faced, admittedly).
