Interesting that in his post game statements Saban distanced his current roster from last years saying something to the effect that we are focused on the opportunities that this team has created for itself. Does not sound like a brick layer.

His success has been largely built on the back of surrounding himself with great assistants. Hopefully guys like Venables will get a HC job soon and they'll take abig hit.

Butch should do like Dabo does. Sit back and let the coordinators do all the hard work. Dabo hired an elite staff and Former Vol coach Dan Brooks is still the best D-line coach in America. Miss having his D-linemen here. They were so disruptive at the point of attack.

I was the same way about Mariota but a lot of these <60% completion 1000+ yrd rushing qbs just don't see how they can translate to the NFL

Yeah but that's easier said than done and one bad coordinator hire can set a team back multiple years.

4-5 years ago people thought Les Miles would be at LSU another decade, but he had trouble finding good offensive assistants.

My thoughts exactly. Dabo has given the blue print for how a guy like Butch can have huge success.

Surround yourself with great assistants and stay out of their way. Be the face of the program, recruits your arse off, and be the guy who keeps the players motivated and working their tails off.

Dan Brooks...... Stripling hasn't ever been close to him. Our line was ridiculous under him with Fulmer at the helm.

Wonder if Butch would try to hire Chuck Smith for the D-line.
