Josh Malone Exploring Entering Draft

I think Malone looks at this seriously like Kamara last year and ultimately comes back.

He will play himself into the 1st round in the 2018 draft after a strong season next year.

I love our players as much as anyone but, there aren't going to be many going in the first round dude!! Barnett should and he will be the first to do so since Eric Berry. Come on, bro be real

We'll have another first rounder this year. Either Sutton or Kamara will sneak into the first round as well.

Did he catch a bunch of passes I was unaware of? I thought Malone was pretty good this year but the best WR on the team is Jennings. He goes up and gets balls that the others drop for whatever reasons.

He's absolutely the best WR on this team. We ALL love JJ and I can't imagine where this team would be without him, but Jennings is probably a better Safety prospect at this point. Unless you were referring to Josh Smith. 😄

Let me just say this, if you have one down to make a clutch play who are you targeting at WR? Most people wouldn't say Malone. Josh has a lot of potential but he hasn't lived up to that potential yet. Now that sounds like an insult but it's quite the contrary, I think the kid could make some money for himself by coming back if he plays up to the ability he has. I think he'd be lucky to get drafted at this point. He needs some more good tape and he'll get that with a more consistent quarterback throwing to him. Dobbs has been great for the team but his passing is inconsistent. Jmho though

Someone mentioned earlier the biggest difference is jenning will go up and fight for the ball alot more than Malone and I think that is the difference that will make or break a wr in the NFL. Anyone with that level of talent can be taught to run routes and catch a good ball. But will your wr go fight for a ball 3rd and goal from the 10 with the game on the line. Both are good players but in that scenerio I pick JJ all day.......and twice on Sunday.

I agree with this. Malone has improved each year but he's not a war daddy. Not sure if he will toughen up in another year but I don't see his tape showing the NFL a high value in this years draft. I would guess 4th - 5th round just because of his measurables. If he was a fighter like JJ he'd probably be second round. He hasn't taken over any games or showed out on a big stage.

regardless of what the money is its more than he has now and better than a 9-5 or going to class another year. Also clearly you don't understand that a 3rd or 4th rd guy makes more than most ppl with a college degree and it last for a 4 or 5 yr period.

Clearly you dont understand the life expectancy of 20 somethings is much beyond the 4 or 5 years you cited. It's not a lot of money, maybe it is to cats working the drive thru at DQ so it could be perspective, but it's not to people who are expecting to have kids, buy the house, and move into retirement someday with their kids in college.

No way to predict if he will re-establish himself with a new QB, but if he can, then he will be a 2-3rd round pick next year. Right now, sites have Malone between a 5th-7th rounder, but who really knows where he would land considering he hasn't done too well outside of this season. Could go un-drafted, though I think it is unlikely since the WR class isn't particularly strong this year.

In the end, I think it is smarter for him to stay. He will still be the top target with a QB that in all probability is a better thrower than Dobbs. Better to wait a year and get more on a rookie contract. Very hard to make it as a WR in the NFL. I base this from there being a lot of good players available in FA.

I would love to see the world through your eyes. You must live in vol utopia. Giant kegs of orange kool- aid on tap in the man cave

90 days ago he said this team sucked and that he was through with them. He's just a useful idiot that Freak keeps around to drive up post numbers for ad revenue.🙄

So you guys are giving him bad advice. Thanks.

Its a weak Wr draft and Josh had the best yr for a UT Wr in years. You ppl that say a college degree vs making 100k are crazy. A person has all their life to get a bachelors which is the equivalent of a hs diploma and equates to a basic job and living. Josh is likely gone because his grades to date have been well and theres likely nothing better he can do @ UT.

Parents should warn their kids about people like you. 100K doesn't go a long way if a person gets injured or fizzles out. A degree lasts a lifetime.

Malone, "I'll take some time off and make the best decision for me and my family."

Sounds like he's leaning away to me. Said he put in paperwork to get a draft grade (which we knew)

Actually, the popcorn degree that most of these football players earn yield low-paying "professional" jobs, if they are able to get one at all. A degree in mass communications get you a framed piece of paper, that's about it.

The NCAA selling a "degree" to these kids in exchange for basically their life/freedom over the next 4 years is a crock. And the NCAA is making big money off of these boys. Pretty sad really.

He's projected to go in the 5-7 range this year & we have a more accurate QB taking the helm next year. I think he will stay, JMO.

I think he will go. To avoid injury and uncertainty with chemistry with a new QB. Plus his measurables and combine will move him up a couple rounds I would think. He could be a poor man's A.J. Green.

If he stays he will be one of the best wr s we ve had in a while. But kids these days usually go early so I say he goes but I hope he stays though.
